China really can't make a pen ball? How did the ballpoint pen come from?

China is still unable to produce die steel, including ballpoint pens, and still needs to be imported. This requires structural adjustment.

How did the ballpoint pen come from?

A long time ago, orientals used brush and inkstone, while westerners used all kinds of dip pens, neither of which was suitable for travel. Later, water-absorbing pen appeared, but this writing tool is easy to leak and be affected by the weather, so it needs to be filled with ink frequently, which makes it especially inconvenient for journalists who often go out.

The prototype of ballpoint pen appeared in Europe at the end of 19. 1888 10 year 10 on October 30th, an American journalist named John Lord obtained the first patent for a ballpoint pen. He named the pen with a ball as the nib, but it was not commercialized. Later, similar designs appeared in Britain and Germany, but they did not attract widespread attention because of their poor performance.

Until June 1943, another Hungarian journalist, László Bíró, applied for a European patent for his ballpoint pen. He replaced traditional ink with quick-drying ink similar to newspaper ink. In order to avoid the jam of sticky ink, Biro installed a rotatable small metal ball at the top of the ink tube as a pen cap to prevent the ink from drying out and control the ink outflow speed.

Later, the British government purchased the patent right to use Biro ballpoint pen and equipped it for the Royal Air Force. The pilot bid farewell to the pen and no longer had to worry about being covered with ink after flying at low pressure. During World War II, Biro ballpoint pen was widely used in the army because of its firmness and ability to adapt to the battlefield environment.
