The commonly used materials for hydraulic cylinder blocks are seamless steel pipes of 20 steel, 35 steel, and 45 steel. Because the mechanical properties of 20 steel are slightly lower and cannot be quenched and tempered, it is rarely used. When the cylinder barrel is welded to the cylinder bottom, cylinder head, pipe joints or trunnions, 35 steel with better welding performance should be used for rough processing and tempering. Generally, 45 steel is used and should be tempered to 241~285HB.
The blank of the cylinder block can also be made of forged steel, cast steel or cast iron. Cast steel generally uses ZG25, ZG35, ZG45, etc. Cast iron can use several grades between HT200~HT350 or ductile iron QT500-05, QT600-02, etc.
In special cases, aluminum alloy and other materials can be used.
