All-wheel or four-wheel steering technology is not a brand-new technology. This technology has been applied to heavy machinery and trucks. In production cars, this technology has been applied to Porsche 9 1 1, Bugatti Veyron and Lamborghini 1980. Huracan? Evo and other high-end cars, however, according to the latest patent filed in February 20 19, Ford is going to apply this technology to F series card-out.
The steering of the rear wheels will be electronically controlled by the brakes. The patent application also provides the use of Ackerman steering geometry. Ackerman steering geometry can prevent the tire from turning around different turning points when turning, reduce the friction between the tire and the ground, and thus improve the overall handling of the vehicle. If this new steering technology can be used in Ford trucks, it can be expected that its performance will be improved, which will be the first time Ford has applied the all-wheel steering system to automobiles.
