A whole year after the "2025 Strategy" was put forward, Hyundai Motor updated the "2025 Strategy".
Recently, at the CEO Investor Day held online, Hyundai Motor released the latest version of "2025 Strategy". Compared with the last edition of "2025 Strategy" released on 20 19, Hyundai Motor not only focuses on smart mobile travel products and smart mobile travel services, but also lists hydrogen energy solutions as a new business pillar.
Throughout the world, the layout of Hyundai Motor in the field of hydrogen energy has always been at the forefront of the industry. Why did Hyundai Motor not list hydrogen energy as an important development strategy before, but now it is listed as one of the three business pillars? What considerations did Hyundai Motor make in the past year? What factors prompted this enterprise to make major adjustments to its development strategy? After Hyundai Motor released the new version of "2025 Strategy", a series of questions were raised around this change.
0 1
New hydrogen energy solutions
Recently, Hyundai Motor announced that Hyundai Motor's updated 2025 strategy is mainly based on three business directions: intelligent travel equipment, intelligent travel services and hydrogen energy solutions, and has set three strategic directions, namely, comprehensively improving the competitiveness of automobile business and electrification, laying a solid foundation for providing industry-leading travel services and strengthening its leading position in the hydrogen energy ecosystem.
In the hydrogen energy scheme (H2? Solution), Hyundai Motor plans to continuously optimize the technology of hydrogen fuel cell system, expand related business scope, and consolidate the Group's leading position in the field of hydrogen energy ecosystem. In addition to the cooperation and sales in the field of hydrogen fuel cell system, Hyundai Motor also plans to introduce hydrogen fuel cell system into all-round transportation fields such as ships, trains and urban air travel. To this end, Hyundai Motor will continue to develop the hydrogen fuel cell system with the best durability and efficiency in the industry.
According to reports, Hyundai Motor plans to create a brand-new time value for consumers through the 2025 strategy, and continue to promote the Group's Smart mobile travel solution provider (Smart? Mobility? Solution? Providers) and steadily promote the implementation of new hydrogen energy services.
Hyundai Motor also released the exclusive brand "HTWO" of hydrogen fuel cell system on CEO Investor Day, hoping to promote the development of its own hydrogen fuel cell business and the construction of hydrogen energy ecosystem. Hyundai Motor said that under the blessing of HTWO brand, it is accelerating the research and development of a new generation of hydrogen fuel cell system, and plans to apply the research and development results to urban air travel, cars, ships and trains.
After the HTWO brand is released, Hyundai Motor will initially focus on four key markets, such as South Korea, China, Europe and the United States, and carry out related business of hydrogen fuel cell system. In 2030, Hyundai Motor plans to sell 700,000 hydrogen fuel cell systems.
02
Governments of various countries have successively implemented the "Green New Deal" policy.
Putting hydrogen energy in the main position is the wisest choice for modern cars. According to the prediction made by Hyundai Motor, in the post-epidemic era, with the gradual digitalization of daily life, the automobile industry will also realize digitalization quickly; Governments of various countries have successively implemented the "Green New Deal" policy, and the pace of transformation from fossil energy to electric energy will be faster and faster; Hydrogen investment in renewable energy applications will be further expanded, and hydrogen economy will develop rapidly.
According to our reporter, at present, many countries and regions around the world have promulgated road maps for hydrogen energy development. Such as the Netherlands, Germany, France and so on. New hydrogen energy development plans have been launched one after another this year, and the United States, South Korea and Japan will continue to support the development of hydrogen energy industry on the basis of the road map of hydrogen energy development that has been launched.
Among the above countries, Japan's technology is leading the world. According to relevant data, Japan has the largest number of patents on hydrogen energy and the highest utilization efficiency. In Japan, several major Japanese car companies, led by Toyota, have begun to lay out the field of hydrogen energy. The Japanese government is also vigorously promoting the development of the whole industrial chain of hydrogen energy and striving to realize a "hydrogen energy society".
In 20 19, Japan put forward a strategic roadmap for hydrogen energy and fuel cells, with the goal of establishing a zero hydrocarbon supply system in 2040. By the end of 20 18, Japan had built 3 hydrogen refueling stations 1 13, 2,839 hydrogen fuel vehicles and 220,000 domestic hydrogen fuel cells.
For the world's largest automobile market, the layout of hydrogen energy in China has also developed rapidly. Especially with the promotion of the concept of "Green Olympics" in the Winter Olympics, the relevant national support policies are more frequent and the support is increasing, and the promotion and application of hydrogen energy in China is developing rapidly.
At present, China has made some achievements in the field of hydrogen energy. The data shows that as of August 2020, 43 hydrogen fuel cell automobile enterprises in China have entered the promotion catalogue of new energy vehicles. In terms of infrastructure, by the end of 20 19, there were more than 130 hydrogen refueling stations built or under construction in China, of which 6 1 station had been built.
Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology mentioned in the "New Energy Vehicle Industry Development Plan 202 1-2035" that it is necessary to explore a new development model of deep integration of new energy vehicles with energy, transportation, information and communication, focusing on fuel cell vehicles, and promoting the construction of hydrogen fuel supply guarantee system in an orderly manner.
It can be seen that the field of automobile hydrogen energy has developed into a force that cannot be ignored, whether in Europe, America or Asia. This is also considered as the "external stimulus" of modern cars.
03
Hydrogen fuel cells lead the world.
For modern cars, the rapid development of the global hydrogen energy market is only the external factor of their hydrogen energy "turning around", and the more fundamental reason is that modern cars have made achievements in the field of hydrogen energy.
Market research institutions constitute SNE? According to the data released by Research, from June 5438 to September this year, the global sales volume of hydrogen energy vehicles was 6664, among which, Hyundai's hydrogen energy electric vehicles? NEXO sold 49 17 vehicles, ranking first with a market share of 73.8%.
In terms of technical layout, Hyundai Motor has also reached strategic cooperation with many hydrogen energy and logistics companies around the world to expand the business of hydrogen fuel cell systems and accelerate the ecological construction of hydrogen energy.
From 65438 to 0998, Hyundai Motor began to set foot in the field of fuel cell vehicles. In 2005, its first fuel cell bus came out, and its long research and development history gave Hyundai enough time to break through itself; In 20 13, Hyundai Motor launched the world's first mass-produced hydrogen fuel cell vehicle.
Since then, Hyundai Motor has continuously expanded its lineup of fuel cell system power models and successively launched SUVs? NEXO, hydrogen fuel cell heavy truck XCIENT and hydrogen fuel cell bus and other products. Among them, NEXO has sold more than 1 10,000 vehicles in Korea since it was listed on 20 18, which has made corresponding contributions to the application and popularization of hydrogen energy. In 20 19, the annual sales volume of Hyundai NEXO hydrogen fuel cell passenger cars was 4,987, surpassing Toyota Mirai for the first time and ranking first in the world.
According to public information, the development of Hyundai Motor in the field of hydrogen energy has also been supported by the Korean government. For example, in 20 19, the Korean government directly invested as much as 370 billion won (about 2.2 billion RMB), and at the same time formulated six policies, including expanding hydrogen energy infrastructure, future automobile industry development strategy, hydrogen energy technology development blueprint, and hydrogen energy safety management, to encourage automobile manufacturers to develop and sell fuel cell vehicles. Just this year, the Korean government continued to expand its investment to 950 billion won (about 5.6 billion yuan) for the promotion of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and hydrogen refueling stations, and supported enterprise research and development projects.
