Apple has obtained a patent for "IMU-based gloves", which involves VR gloves that can measure the movement of a single phalanx and thumb. The IMU may include one or more motion sensors, such as gyroscopes and accelerometers, and may be located near the finger (or thumb) bone, and may measure the inertial motion of the corresponding bone.
This patent allows VR gloves to measure finger movements, thus providing a more realistic virtual reality experience. Users can use this glove when using VR helmet to better control the objects in the virtual world.
