Were there homosexuals in ancient China?

It is difficult to confirm that homosexuality began in ancient China. Ji Yun, a famous scholar in Qing Dynasty, said in Notes of Yuewei Caotang: "Miscellaneous remarks about child molestation began in the Yellow Emperor." Qian Daxin, his contemporaries, also held this view. In fact, in the history of China, whether the Yellow Emperor really exists is not so reliable, and homosexuality began in the Yellow Emperor is even more unfounded. However, there is no doubt that homosexuality existed before recorded history.

In written records, the record of homosexuality may be the earliest in Shang and Xun Dynasties. Among them, it is pointed out that there are "three winds and ten worries" in the world, saying that "when a teenager is in the body, his family will be lost; The country is in the body and the country is dead; I am not guilty, punish me. " Among the three winds, there are "turbulence", which includes "four evils", one of which is "playing with boys and engaging in homosexuality". Thus, in the Shang Dynasty, "more than urchins" became a kind of "gone with the wind", and Yi Yin had to remind him in "Tai Jia Xun".

In the Warring States Policy and Qin Ce, it is recorded that "if you want to cut the danger, you will be afraid of the existence of the communist party." Gou said, "If you have words, the handsome man will break his will. Is a beautiful man, teach evil gong, gong remonstrate but not listen, then die; Therefore, cut the danger and take it. " In Zhou Shu, there is a saying that "a handsome man breaks his ambition, a beautiful woman breaks her home, and her martial arts are ruined", which means that both "a handsome man" and "a beautiful woman" may become the bane of the country's ruin. According to the records of Jin Gongyu in the Warring States Policy, providing attractive men with seduction and homosexuality actually played the role of pornographic spies. Later, "the handsome man broke his will" or "the handsome man went bankrupt" became an allusion, which shows that homosexuality was regarded as a social disaster by some people at that time.

At that time, gay men were called "male wind" or "south wind". In the folk songs of the Zhou Dynasty, there are many words praising men and masculinity. For example, later generations thought that there was "Zheng Sheng's fornication" in the Spring and Autumn Period, and in the Qing Dynasty, Cheng thought that the chapter of Zheng Feng was a poem describing the love between two men.

In addition, there are words such as "crouching on the mountain", "sly boy", "Wanshang" and "Yang water", all of which are related to masculinity.

Judging from the above, the record of homosexuality in the history of China is indeed earlier.

In ancient China, there were many terms for homosexuality, such as "parting peach", "broken sleeves", "Anling" and "Longyang", all of which originated from some famous homosexual cases in the history of China.

I'm afraid the first gay "case" recorded in the history of our country is a passage in The Spring and Autumn Annals of Yan Zi: Qi Jinggong looks very beautiful, a bit like a beauty. Once, he found that a small official had been looking at him flirtatiously. He was surprised and asked people around him to inquire about the little official. The little official admitted that he likes Qi Jinggong very much because Qi Jinggong is beautiful. Hearing this, Qi Jinggong was very angry with this kind of "psychosexuality" behavior and wanted to kill this little official. Later, Yan Ying dissuaded him.

The ancients called gay men "the love of leaving a peach" and "Zhi Tao with a peach left", and their allusions came from Wei Linggong and his Toy Boy and Zixia Mi, which were contained in Han Feizi, Liu Xiang Shuo Yuan and Warring States Policy. The original text is:

Mizi's name was flawed, and the doctor in Wei Zhi won. In the past, Zixia Mi was favored by Wei Jun. The law of defending the country: "Whoever steals your car is guilty." Zixia Mi's mother was ill, so the world told Mizi at night, and Mizi went out in your car. On the day you heard it, you said, "Filial piety! For the sake of mother, forget her sins. "

One day, I swam with you in the orchard, eating peaches, sweet, and I was half as good as you. Jun said, "Love me! Forget its taste, and I will be widowed. "

Zixia Mi's desire for love and laziness offend you. You said, "driving my car is a real taste, and eating my peaches is a real taste." Therefore, Mizi's trip did not change at first, but those who were convicted before meeting the sage have changed their love and hate.

Zixia Mi and Wei Linggong are gay, condescending and arrogant. They drive the monarch's car privately, give him half of the peaches, praise them when he is in favor, and commit crimes when he is out of favor. It is also necessary to mention that Wei Linggong is an adulterer. He also had a homosexual relationship with a beautiful Song Gongzi. In the Song Dynasty, he had a heterosexual relationship with Wei Linggong's first mother Xuan Jiang and his wife Nanzi, which led to a palace coup.

The ancients also called gay men "the goodness of Longyang", and the allusion came from Wei Ce in the Warring States Policy. Long Yangjun is the Toy Boy of Wang Wei, and Wang Wei loves him very much. One day, two people were fishing together. Long Yangjun caught a dozen fish, but instead of being unhappy, he cried. Wang Wei was very surprised and asked him why. He said that when I caught the first fish, I was filled with joy, but when I caught a bigger fish, I threw the first fish into the sea. I am in your favor now, and people respect me, but there are so many beautiful women in the world that others will recommend people who are more beautiful than me to you. At that time, I will be abandoned in the sea like the first fish. How can I stop crying when I think about this? Wang Wei was very moved, so he promulgated the whole country. If someone brings up another beautiful woman in front of him, he will be beheaded.

As for the allusion of "An Ling Jun Hao", it comes from the Chu policy of the Warring States Policy, and An Ling Jun is the Toy Boy of the King of Chu, which is quite popular. A man named Jiang Yi told him that the monarch is so kind to you only because he loves your beauty, and you will fall in love with her one day. Even if the mat you sleep on is not broken, you are no longer favored. You'd better tell the monarch that if you follow him or even die, you will get his long-term trust and care. But after three years, An Lingjun didn't tell the king of Chu. On one occasion, an ling jun he was hunting in Yunmeng. Wang said with emotion, "Hunting today really makes me happy, but who will accompany me to enjoy this happiness after I die?" An Lingjun knelt down with tears and said, "Long live your Majesty, I am willing to continue to wait on you under the grave." King Chu was greatly moved by this, so he set up an altar and named it Anlingjun.

Long Yangjun and Anlingjun are obviously much smarter than Zixia Mi. They don't depend on the person they like, but are arrogant. But "prepare for danger in times of peace" and impress the monarch with some ingenious methods to consolidate their position, because they know that it is precarious to become gay with the monarch just by virtue of their beauty.

These "cases" all appeared in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. During this period, there are also some gay "cases" that are quite thought-provoking. For example, in Wu Xia Amon's "Broken Sleeves", the "Queen of God" section records:

When Shen Hou got the favor of King Wen of Chu, he was dying, and the envoy said, "Only I know you, and you are not tired of patents. If you want to take it, you can't have flaws. Future generations demand more than you, so you must, when I die, you will be anxious and you will be indifferent to a small country. " Zheng was not only buried, but also spoiled by Duke Wen, so that he could ask the city to give him a city and was killed.

This Shen Hou is Toy Boy, the King of Chu, who loves him and knows him well. When he knew he was going to die soon, he gave Shen Hou a wise reminder and told him to be careful. But this Shen Hou disagreed, and later he became the Toy Boy of Zheng Ligong. His behavior was so careless that he was killed.

People had a reputation for destroying masculinity in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. For example, Confucius said, "There is no happiness to be enjoyed, but it is difficult for Song Mei to avoid this world." (The Analects of Confucius, sixth). Mozi said, "The princes don't know how to take Shang Xian as their government, and they are rich and poor for no reason. If you look good, do it. Is it wise to make her husband rich and beautiful for no reason? The princes love their colors, so those who govern a hundred people are placed in thousands of official positions, and those who govern a thousand people are placed in ten thousand official positions. " (Mozi Shang Xian) It seems that they are quite angry about this "turbulent wind".

Ruan Ji in the Three Kingdoms period, however, chanted and praised "Anling" and "Longyang" in his poems:

In the past, Fanhuazi, Anling, Longyang and Yao Lihua all burned brilliantly. Yueze is like nine spring, Pan is like autumn frost, and I look forward to charm and fragrance. Hold hands and wait for love, keep clothes for nearly a month, and wish two birds fly and soar; Dan Qing vowed never to forget each other.

-"Three Poems of Love"

The ancients called gay men "the God of Broken Sleeves", an allusion from the Han Dynasty. Emperor Han Ai loved a man named Dong Xian very much, and he and Dong Xian "lay together" like husband and wife. One day, Eddie and Dong Xian took a nap together. Eddie woke up and got up, but Dong Xian grabbed his sleeve. Eddie didn't want to disturb Dong Xian by pulling out his sleeve, so he cut it off with his sword. Emperor Han Ai loved Dong Xian to the utmost. Dong was 22 years old at that time, and he was entitled to go to Sangong. Xiongnu envoys came to worship and were extremely surprised to see such a young Sangong. Eddie even wanted Zen to take his place, but he didn't insist because of the opposition of the minister. When Dong Xian was 20 years old, Emperor Ai ordered people to build another tomb next to his "tomb of ten thousand years" so that he could be with Dong Xian after his death. At that time, Dong Xian's arrogance reached its peak. But after the death of Ai Di, Dong Xian was immediately deprived of everything and finally committed suicide.

The so-called "Jade Tao", "Broken Sleeves", "Anling" and "Longyang" all belong to the words of literati. As for the ancient folks, there are many vulgar terms for homosexuality, such as "xianggong", "rabbit", "male prostitute", "little singer", "Xiang brother" and "Qi brother".
