What is Tamiflu? What is this for?

Tamiflu is an effective and commonly used influenza drug, which can greatly reduce the occurrence of complications and the use of antibiotics. Three ways to explain may be "effective". At present, H5N 1 avian influenza virus poses the greatest threat to human beings. The World Health Organization recommends Tamiflu as a reserve drug for the government to deal with the possible human avian influenza epidemic. In China, Tamiflu has been listed as a therapeutic drug in the Diagnosis and Treatment Plan for Human Avian Influenza (2005 Edition).

Tamiflu is a prodrug of its active metabolite, and its active metabolite (oseltamivir carboxylate) is a selective inhibitor of neuraminidase of influenza virus. Neuraminidase is a glycoprotease on the surface of virus, and its activity is very important for the release of newly formed virus particles from infected cells and the further spread of infectious virus in human body.
