Types of pipa

Pipa can be divided into five-stringed pipa, four-stringed pipa, Nanyin Pipa, Xiang Pipa, Yue Pipa, High-pitched Pipa, Electric Pipa and Crystal Pipa.

One-string or five-string pipa

Since the Han, Wei and Song Dynasties, the pipa has generally been a five-string pipa. In the Tang Dynasty, the development of the five-stringed pipa reached its climax. Bai Juyi, a famous poet, especially likes pipa, and he has described the performance scenes of banjo many times. There is not much difference between the five-stringed pipa and the four-stringed pipa. In the Song Dynasty, the five-stringed pipa gradually replaced the five-stringed pipa, which was very different from the four-stringed pipa.

Ersi pipa

The four-string pipa has been used since the Song Dynasty. The reason why the four-string pipa continues to this day is that it is not much different from the five-string pipa in timbre, and it is relatively easy to play. The four-stringed pipa introduced to Japan in the Tang Dynasty was called Le Pipa by them.

Third, Nanyin Pipa

Nanyin Pipa is mainly popular in southern Fujian and Taiwan Province Province. Because it is often used to play folk music "Nanyin", it is named Nanyin Pipa. Different from other pipas, generally the pipa is played vertically, while the Nanyin pipa is played horizontally. Compared with the ordinary pipa, Nanyin Pipa has some primitive timbre and is a very unique sound.

Fourth, bang.

The harpsichord is mainly pipa, and the strings can move up and down to make the harpsichord sound louder. Because of this, arpeggios can generally be played in bands, which is very suitable for playing modern music, and its sound is not easily covered by other instruments. Hupa is not widely used and is generally difficult to see.

Five, the moon.

Yuepa has the characteristics of both yueqin and pipa. It can be played by pipa or violin string method. Its voice is sonorous, sonorous, pure in sound quality, crisp in silver and full of sound. Generally, it is suitable for Chinese opera accompaniment to express the feelings in Chinese opera.

Six, high-pitched pipa

As the name implies, the pitch of the treble pipa is relatively high. There is a sound control window on the ventral surface of the pipa, and the internal sound column can also be adjusted. Therefore, the pitch and bass of the treble pipa are very balanced and the timbre is very beautiful.

Seven, electronic pipa

Electric pipa, like electric guitar and other electronic musical instruments, is equipped with various electrical components. After electrifying, electromagnetic induction is converted into electrical signal, which makes speakers and sound boxes maximize the sound, and makes the sound quality purer and more expressive.

Eight, crystal pipa

Zhao Cong, a famous pianist, pioneered the glass pipa and obtained a patent. Its tone does not turn, and it is amplified with a megaphone, and the aftersound is not long.
