Brief Introduction of Lanzhou Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Institute of China Academy of Agricultural Sciences

The institute is mainly engaged in basic and applied research on veterinary drug innovation, herbivore breeding, resource protection and utilization, modernization of Chinese and veterinary drugs, and selection and utilization of xerophyte varieties. The Institute has four research departments: Animal Husbandry Laboratory, China Veterinary Laboratory, Veterinary Laboratory and Feed Industry Feed Laboratory. There are animal fur and products quality supervision, inspection and testing center of the Ministry of Agriculture, key field scientific observation test station of Lanzhou Loess Plateau ecological environment of the Ministry of Agriculture, field scientific observation test station of Lanzhou Loess Plateau ecological environment of China Academy of Agricultural Sciences, field scientific observation test station of Lanzhou agricultural environment of China Academy of Agricultural Sciences, field scientific observation test station of Zhangye forage and ecological agriculture of China Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and national disease control laboratory of dairy technology system. Research platforms such as Clinical Veterinary Medicine Research Center of China Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Veterinary Medicine Engineering Laboratory of China Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Key Laboratory of New Veterinary Medicine Engineering of Gansu Province, and Chinese Veterinary Medicine Engineering Technology Research Center of Gansu Province have become the basic means and important support of scientific research in the Institute, and have become important platforms for carrying out scientific experimental research and demonstrating and popularizing scientific and technological achievements. China Veterinary Journal and China Herbivores edited and published by the Institute are the core Chinese periodicals in China. There are five management departments, including office, science and technology management department, Party-run personnel department, condition construction finance department and base management department, and three development service departments, including real estate management department, pharmaceutical factory and logistics service center.

The hospital has 205 employees and retired employees 176. Among the employees, there are senior employees 14, 46 deputy senior employees and 79 intermediate employees. 2 postdoctoral fellows, 23 doctors and 6/kloc-0 masters; 5 tutors and 22 masters; 1 person, outstanding experts from the Ministry of Agriculture, 2 outstanding experts from Gansu Province, 4 "555" talents from Gansu Province, 5 outstanding talents from China Academy of Agricultural Sciences, 3 leading talents from Gansu Province, 1 person was named as "model figure of agriculture, countryside and farmers" for the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China, 3 people were awarded "Science and Technology Contribution Award of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science in New China (Outstanding Person)",

The Institute is located in the urban area of Lanzhou, covering an area of 95 mu, and the field test base covers an area of 5,476 mu (Lanzhou Dawa Mountain base covers 2,368 mu, 8 kilometers away from the Institute; Zhangye base is 3 108 mu, 500km away from his office). It has a scientific research building 10000 square meters, a scientific research and training center of 6000 square meters, a GMP workshop of Chinese veterinary drugs of 2000 square meters, an SPF standardized laboratory animal room 1230 square meters, more than 7000 kinds of scientific journals 17000, more than 36000 books and total fixed assets of 10673 million yuan.

Under the direct leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture and China Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Institute has made unremitting efforts, adhered to the principles of scientific research, closely focused on the major scientific and technological problems in China's animal husbandry production, and formed four dominant disciplines: animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, Chinese veterinary medicine (veterinary medicine) and grass industry, and actively carried out herbivorous livestock breeding, new variety breeding, nutritional metabolism, high-quality pasture breeding, new veterinary medicine creation, safe veterinary medicine industrialization demonstration, Chinese veterinary medicine and animal disease prevention and control technology.

Since its establishment, the Institute has undertaken 904 scientific research projects and won 192 awards, including national 13, provincial/ministerial 103, patents 17, 53 new veterinary drug certificates, more than 4,500 papers and books103. The Institute is affiliated to the Veterinary Toxicology Committee of China Toxicology Society, Northwest Pathology Branch of China Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Society, Northwest Chinese Veterinary Medicine Branch and National Yak Breeding Cooperation Group. It has established scientific and technological cooperation and exchange relations with universities and scientific research institutions in Germany, the United States, Britain, the Netherlands, Australia and Canada.
