Why is Apple Pay not widely used in China?

As more and more people use Alipay, Apple can’t stand it any longer and has also developed a wallet with payment functions - APPLE PAY. Apple Pay is also very convenient. When you go to a restaurant and order food, you just take out your phone and approach the sensor area. The fingerprint to pay is automatically displayed on the screen, and then you press the fingerprint, and the payment process is completed. But Apple Pay has not become popular in China. There is of course a reason for this.

The first point is that Alipay has been widely used by people. People have long been accustomed to using Alipay to pay bills. They will not throw away Alipay easily just because a new payment method appears. And without Alipay, it is still possible. There is WeChat, a tool that can both chat and make payments. WeChat is also widely used by people in China.

The second point is that Apple Pay’s audience is limited. Only those using Apple systems can use Apple pay. Not everyone in China has an Apple phone, and a lot of people have Android phones. Naturally, it is impossible for people with Android phones to use Apple pay. Alipay and WeChat have no limitations and can be used on both Apple and Android machines.

The third point is that even if some people use Apple Pay, they think Apple Pay is particularly convenient, but their relatives and friends all use Alipay or WeChat. For the convenience of daily transfers, they still mainly use Alipay and WeChat.

The fourth point is that the function of Apple Pay is not so powerful that it is unique. Its payment function can be achieved by many software. Similar to its advantage, you can pay by being close to the sensor. That can also be achieved with mobile UnionPay, and the transaction can be completed by pressing your fingerprint close to the display. The power of Alipay can also be used to pay for utility bills, train tickets, small loans, etc. WeChat is the largest mobile communication software in China, which makes Apple Pay unique. Therefore, with these two mountains, Apple Pay is difficult to surpass them.
