Hong Kong University Admission Requirements: Which majors are relatively easy to apply for?

1. Total score in the college entrance examination

Mainland high school graduates need to apply to Hong Kong schools based on their college entrance examination scores, which requires good college entrance examination scores.

Generally speaking, candidates’ actual scores in the college entrance examination (excluding any bonus points) must at least reach the admission score of the first batch of key universities for undergraduates. Studying an undergraduate degree in Hong Kong is not just for the candidates with the highest scores. Candidates whose college entrance examination scores reach the second-level score line are also eligible to apply for schools such as the Higher Education Institute of Science and Technology in Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Hang Seng Management College.

2. English proficiency

Good English proficiency is also one of the conditions for Hong Kong schools to recruit fresh graduates. The University of Hong Kong stipulates that the language of foreign language examinations must be English. In the college entrance examination, the full score is 150 points, and candidates must reach 120 points or above, and an English score of 135 points or above is the stepping stone for Hong Kong school scholarships.

3. Interview performance

If candidates are approved to enter the University of Hong Kong, they must pass the interview of the University of Hong Kong in order to successfully enter the University of Hong Kong. HKU uses English as the interview language to examine candidates’ comprehensive abilities. It requires candidates to have good performance in communication, organization and coordination, and interpersonal communication.

Candidates have only a few weeks to prepare for interviews at the University of Hong Kong. According to past applications from HKU students, the interview process is the biggest difficulty for mainland students entering HKU.

It is better to apply for the following majors:

1. Science and engineering;

2. Social sciences;

3. Liberal arts;

4. Media;

5. Master of Business.
