Now the appearance of smartphones is more and more consistent. Ultra-thin, large screen and full screen are the goals pursued by mobile phone manufacturers, which makes the recognition of smart phones very low. In order to maximize the screen of smart phones, mobile phone manufacturers are also racking their brains to compress the space of the front camera. Therefore, Liu Haiping has been gradually replaced by the water drop screen, and the technology of taking pictures under the screen has gradually entered the field of mobile phones.
According to foreign media reports, #vivo mobile phone new patent # domestic smartphone manufacturer vivo applied for a very unique smartphone patent last week, which can carry a detachable drone camera on the mobile phone.
The patent shows that this UAV camera module is similar to the sim card slot of a mobile phone and can be separated from the mobile phone. When the phone opens a specific camera application, a bracket pops up at the top of the phone. With the help of four integrated propellers, the camera lens will leave the mobile phone and fly into the air to take pictures or videos like a drone. At the same time, the shot picture will be transmitted to the mobile phone screen for display.
VIVO's UAV camera module has two sets of lenses, one in front and the other on top. It is said that a second group and a third group of lenses can be added. In addition, this UAV camera module is also equipped with four propellers and three infrared sensors, which are used for the aerial flight and anti-collision functions of the UAV camera module. Of course, battery module and data transmission module must also be provided.
As can be seen from the exposed 3D rendering, the camera size of this group of drones is about 55cm, which is set on the top of the mobile phone. Based on the thin and light characteristics of smart phones, the thickness of this drone camera will not be very large.
At present, this drone camera has only applied for a patent and has not yet entered the actual production stage. Although its concept and ideas are good, Xiaoyu thinks its practicality needs to be considered.
The first is the stability of the picture. Considering its flight power system, the camera module of UAV must be light and small. If it is windy outside, such a light equipment will be affected by the wind when flying, and it is difficult to keep balance.
Dust and waterproof problems. Smart phone is a precision equipment, which requires high dustproof and waterproof. If you make such a big gap in the top of the mobile phone, the challenge of dustproof and waterproof is even greater. In addition, the camera is frequently ejected and retracted, and the dust on it will also wear parts.
The size of the mobile phone. Each module in the mobile phone is highly integrated, so the space inside can be described as "arachis duranensis". If such a flight module is built into the mobile phone, the volume of the mobile phone will be greatly increased.
Security issues and regulatory issues. If this drone camera technology is mature, it is unimaginable that there will be a large number of cameras flying in the air in public places if it is to be put on the market. In addition, there are more and more regulations on drones, so it is still unknown whether this module can finally be pushed to the market.
PS: The above 3D renderings were created by Sarang Sheth, the industrial designer and editor-in-chief of Yanko Design, and LetsGoDigital.
Overall, the concept of this UAV camera module proposed by vivo is still very good. Detachable, flying in the air and taking photos from a distance all provide great convenience for people to use smart phones. At present, this technology is only in the conceptual stage.
