The College insists on facing the academic frontier, facing the major needs of the country and facing the main battlefield of Shandong's national economy, and "building the laboratory on the land of Shandong", and fully integrates into the development of three billion-level industrial chains in Shandong Province, such as smart grid equipment, new energy vehicles and special electromagnetic equipment, enabling Shandong's scientific and technological innovation and development, and realizing the key technical support and key guidance of the frontier direction. It has successively established a global energy Internet collaborative innovation center, an intelligent distribution network technology center and an electric vehicle charging equipment testing center in cooperation with State Grid Shandong Electric Power Company, established a Shandong University-Zibo Advanced Motor Technology Research Institute with a number of motor enterprises in Zibo and the Zibo Municipal Government, and established a Shandong University-Haier Smart Energy Joint Laboratory with Qingdao Haier Group.
