Electronic Enthusiast Network reports (Text/Li Wanwan) Recently, the account of "Deepin" released a video in which they assembled a domestically produced host, with the CPU using Loongson 3A5000 and the GPU using Jingjia Micro JM7201 can actually play CS.
Loongson previously stated that the 3A5000 model CPU can run CS, but in terms of games, GPUs have always used products from foreign manufacturers. There has been no news that domestic GPUs can be used to play games.
First, let’s take a rough look at the assembly of this host. The CPU uses Loongson 3A5000, which is a processor released by Loongson Technology in July 2021. It is based on the independently developed loongarch architecture and uses a 12nm process with a main frequency of 2.5GHz. The performance of this CPU has been improved by about 50% compared to the previous generation, and it can run some Windows software through binary translation.

The memory uses Unisoc 8G DDR4, and the hard drive is a Guangwei Yi series 256G hard drive.

The graphics card is Jingjiawei’s JM7201. JM7201 is manufactured using the 28nm COMS process. 64-bit wide 1G video memory, this is the commercial version launched by Jingjiawei in 2019 based on JM7200.
The power supply is also a 400-watt Great Wall power supply, and the chassis is a small chassis from Shangsheng Rui.
Next, the overall assembly of the host is completed, which is to install the system. Because Loongson is not an X86 architecture, it cannot use Windows systems. It can only use Linux systems based on the loongarch instruction set. This assembler used uos.
After installing the system, most applications can be downloaded directly from the app store. Because 3A5000 supports binary translation, you can see that there are many applications from Windows.
Download CS installation from the software store and start playing. And on this console assembled with domestic chips, not only can you play CS, but also other games from the same period as CS can also be played, such as Day of Victory, Half-Life 1, and Team Fortress Classic.
So what is the effect of playing CS? Judging from the experience of the assembler in the video, the effect is not good. According to his description, he played the game at a low resolution of 640*480, and even so, he still felt stuck. Throughout the game, I felt that the CPU was in a so-so state, and the graphics card seemed a bit weak, with a lot of lags and frame drops.
But overall, from the past, foreign GPUs were used to play games, and now domestic GPUs can run some games, which is a great progress, although CS1.6 is already more than 20 years old game before.
However, some netizens in the comment area believe that this card is caused by system conversion. The graphics card and CPU are not the bottleneck, but the card caused by the system. If you install uos on a 12th generation i5 and play CS, it will also be stuck.
Some netizens said that compared to NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel, it is indeed lagging behind, but in their monopolized market environment, it is not easy to get to this point by bypassing numerous patent barriers. It’s good to be able to run. After waiting for the subsequent software and hardware optimization and upgrade, I believe that the domestic full platform will take off one day.
We know that the global GPU is currently in a monopoly. NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel basically occupy the entire global GPU market share, and the market share of each company only changes slightly in different quarters.
A few days ago, JPR released the latest GPU market data statistical report showing that in Q4 2021, AMD's overall market share increased by 0.7% month-on-month, Intel's overall market share fell by 0.1%, and Nvidia's overall market share fell by 0.6 %.
Intel continues to lead in overall GPU shipments, accounting for 62% of the market share, while AMD and Nvidia split the remaining market equally, each accounting for 19% of the market share.
AMD's shipments increased by 4.7%, Intel's shipments increased by 0.6%, and Nvidia's shipments fell by 2.2%.
Among the independent graphics cards used in desktops and laptops, NVIDIA occupies 81% of the market share, and AMD owns the remaining 19%. Although Intel has launched the DG1 series of independent graphics cards, it has not provided relevant shipping statistics.
GPU has a wide range of applications, including computers, workstations and some mobile devices, such as tablets, smartphones, airborne displays, shipboard displays, vehicle-mounted displays, etc., and with the development of the information industry, The subdivision of GPU applications continues to expand.
According to the latest GPU market statistics report released by JPR, GPU will achieve a compound annual growth rate of 4.5% during 2020-2025. It is expected that the penetration rate of independent graphics cards in PCs will increase in the next five years. to a level of 42%.
Judging from the above market data, domestic GPUs basically have no market share in PCs. However, this does not mean that domestic GPUs have no products, no progress, and the market is 0.
In terms of domestic GPUs, Jingjiawei can be said to be the pioneer and leader. In 2014, Jingjiawei took the lead in successfully developing the first domestic high-performance, low-power GPU chip JM5400, breaking the long-term dominance of foreign products. It monopolizes my country's GPU market and has been successfully used in many national key projects.
Starting from the successful development of JM5400, Jingjiawei successfully developed the second-generation GPU chip JM7200 in August 2018. This product has greatly improved its performance and process design compared to JM5400. .
In the 2021 semi-annual report, Jing Jiawei stated that it has completed the adaptation work with major domestic CPU and operating system manufacturers, and has cooperated with more than ten major domestic computer manufacturers such as Great Wall, Lenovo, and Tongfang. Manufacturers have established cooperative relationships and conducted product testing, and conducted mutual certification with many software and hardware manufacturers such as Cangqiong, SuperMap, Kunlun, Zhongke Fangde, Zhongke Controllable, etc., and jointly built a localized computer application ecosystem. At present, JM7200 has been widely used in the general market.
In addition, based on JM7200, Jingjiawei launched the commercial version JM7201 in 2019 to meet the high-performance display requirements of desktop systems and fully support domestic CPUs and domestic operating systems. This product is the GPU used in the host assembled above.
There has been a very obvious progress in recent years. Jiawei's graphics cards are only provided to some special units, and now they have begun to enter the civilian market. With the continuous upgrading of technical products, market applications continue to expand. Feedback, maybe everyone can really use domestically produced high-performance GPU graphics cards in the future.
In addition to Jingjiawei, there are many domestic GPU manufacturers that are actively making breakthroughs, including Hangjin Technology, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, VeriSilicon, Innosilicon Technology, Biren Technology, Muxi Integrated Circuit, Moore Thread, Xiyou Microelectronics, etc.
Whether it is domestic CPU or GPU, it is far from that of major foreign manufacturers. Relatively speaking, domestic CPUs are still slightly ahead. GPUs are technically difficult and have been monopolized by foreign giants for a long time. Especially in the field of graphics cards for workstations and data centers, domestic graphics GPUs have temporarily done nothing due to lagging performance.
However, growth has been visible to the naked eye in recent years, but there are still many problems faced. For example, there is a shortage of designers, engineers and other talents related to the domestic GPU field, not only for GPUs, but also for the entire chip field. The demand is very high, and it often takes more than ten years to cultivate mature and experienced talents.
However, we can clearly see the determination of the country and enterprises to achieve breakthroughs in the chip field, as well as the efforts and progress. We believe that in the future, we will eventually achieve chip freedom and not be controlled by others.
