Introduction to the School of Automation, Beijing Institute of Technology

The School of Automation has nearly 1,000 undergraduate students, more than 300 master’s students, and nearly 200 doctoral students. Every year, it undertakes more than 50 national scientific research projects such as "973", "863", National Natural Science Foundation of China, scientific and technological research, national defense pre-research, national defense basics, high-tech projects, and model development. The annual scientific research funding is approximately 80 million yuan, more than 200 academic papers have been published, and more than 15 invention patents have been applied for. In the past three years, it has won 3 national-level science and technology progress awards, 17 provincial and ministerial-level awards, and published 10 books and textbooks (including 1 English monograph).

The discipline of "Control Science and Engineering" established a postdoctoral mobile station in 1998, and was authorized to be awarded a first-level doctoral degree in 1999. The five secondary disciplines under the first-level disciplines are control theory and control engineering, navigation guidance and control, pattern recognition and intelligent systems, systems engineering, detection technology and automation devices. In 2001, "Control Theory and Control Engineering" was rated as a national key discipline. In 2002, "Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems" was rated as a key discipline of the Commission for National Defense Science and Technology. In 2007, "Control Theory and Control Engineering" was rated as a key discipline again. A national key discipline, "Navigation Guidance and Control" has been rated as a national key cultivation discipline. In 2008, the first-level discipline of “Control Science and Engineering” was rated as a key first-level discipline in Beijing. In 2002, 2006 and 2012, the first-level discipline of control science and engineering ranked among the top ten in the national subject evaluation for three consecutive times.

The School of Automation of Beijing Institute of Technology currently offers two undergraduate majors: "Automation" and "Electrical Engineering and Automation". Among them, the "Automation" major is a famous brand major of the school. Our school also established a national-level experimental teaching demonstration center for electrical engineering and electronics.

In terms of laboratory construction, it currently has the National Key Laboratory of "Intelligent Control and Decision-making of Complex Systems", the Beijing Key Laboratory of "Automatic Control Systems", and the Engineering Center of the Ministry of Education of "Navigation, Guidance and Control" .

The School of Automation has conducted various academic exchanges with more than a dozen universities, research institutions and enterprises in the United States, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, Russia, Australia, Pakistan and other countries. We have conducted fruitful and friendly cooperation.

In recent years, it has undertaken the second and third phases of our school’s “211 Project” and the first and second phases of the “985 Project” key discipline construction projects. The scientific research environment and experimental conditions have been significantly improved, and the quality of talent training has been significantly improved. and academic standards have been greatly improved.
