Colt American 2000 pistol was not originally designed by Colt Company. It was originally a Knight 2000 pistol designed by Reed Knight and Eugene stoner of KAC Company, but it was patented by Colt Company at 199 1 and intended to be introduced to the police pistol market.

General characteristics
The design of American 2000 is different from the traditional products designed and produced by Colt for many years. The gun adopts short recoil automatic mode and rotating tube locking principle. This design comes from Steyr 19 12 and French MAS 19 14, but it has been improved. There are five locking convex bamboo shoots on the cylinder, which are matched with the locking grooves on the sleeve. After the bullet is fired, the sleeve retracts the barrel together, and the barrel rotates 30 degrees in the sleeve to unlock it under the action of the cam installed on the pistol bottom handle.
The principle of rotating unlocking makes the pistol not like Browning system, where the barrel falls sharply and produces violent vibration, and then the sitting feeling is light. The muzzle liner is made of steel with a sight on it, which constitutes the front end of the weapon. Through rotary motion, its two protrusions are clamped into the inner groove of the sleeve and connected with the sleeve as a whole. Below the bushing is the winder system, and the winder spring is fixed on the guide rod.
In the process of shooting, the compound spring is compressed only when the sleeve is recoiled, and when it is disassembled and assembled, the compound spring is in a relaxed state and will not spring up suddenly. All-American 2000 adopts pure double-action firing mode and adopts translation firing pin. The trigger is not hinged on the trigger shaft, but moves in parallel similar to 19 1 1. The iron stopper and the firing pin are located on the guide wheel. When the guide wheels move, they slide against the guide wheels, thus reducing the friction between many parts.
This gun has no manual safety, but it is equipped with automatic injection safety. As long as the trigger is not pulled, the injection safety will jam the trigger, which can prevent the pistol from going off when it falls. The curve design of the rear end of the grip is quite successful, which can make the position of holding the gun rise and approach the axis of the barrel, thus making the weapon naturally recoil linearly and reducing jumping.
The magazine adopts double-row single-feed design, which can accommodate 15 9mm bullets. The mechanical sight of the gun is a sheet-like fixed sight and a notched door with adjustable wind deflection. Both the sight and the door have luminous spots for aiming at night. The gun uses a lot of plastic parts and aluminum alloy parts, so it is light in weight.
There is a popular view that in order to improve the response speed to street attacks, some law enforcement officers who use single/double-handed guns usually don't turn off the safety after the pistol is loaded (or simply use two-handed guns without manual safety, such as SIGP226), but the trigger force of SA/DA pistols after the first shot and the second shot is quite different, and the trigger force will affect the shooting accuracy. If you use a knife trigger, you can ensure that the intensity of each shot is the same and keep the consistency of shooting.
Therefore, road pistols can save insurance and improve the flexibility of dealing with emergencies. However, the DAO trigger of American 2000 is poorly designed. The design of translating trigger helps the shooter to press the trigger smoothly. But for a pistol with a trigger stroke of nearly half an inch and a pulling force of 12 pounds, this is a disaster, and the shooting accuracy is seriously affected because of the poor trigger feeling of 2000 American.
Because of the poor trigger feeling, some reliability problems, and some people always questioned the safety when the knife and pistol were first introduced, the sales situation of 2000 in the United States was very bad. Coupled with the impact of the end of the cold war, the world light weapons market shrank in the 1990s, and Colt Company was threatened with bankruptcy in the 1990s.
So I decided to cut off some loss-making products, including 2000 pistols from the United States, so the original 40-caliber and 45-caliber models were not introduced. From 1992 to 1994, colt company produced about 20,000 American 2000 vehicles.
