The fire source can be deprived of oxygen by building airtight walls at suitable places on both sides of the inlet and return air of the fire source and tightly sealing the fire area. Commonly used sealing materials are mud, wood, brick, stone and so on. Using liquid polymer materials to foam in situ or using plastic and rubber airbags to build temporary closed walls can reduce labor intensity and shorten construction time. In the fire area with gas emission, the danger of gas explosion in the sealing process should be considered. Usually, the explosion-proof wall should be built with sand bags first, and the closed wall should be built under its cover.
After the fire area is closed, if a small amount of air leakage keeps the oxygen concentration in the fire area above 3 ~ 5%, the fire source may smolder for a long time. In order to speed up the fire fighting and prevent air leakage, the combined fire fighting method can be adopted. It is most effective to pour yellow mud into the closed fire area; Nitrogen or carbon dioxide can also be injected.
