Why did Qualcomm give up the technical evolution of CDMA2000?

1. None of the LTE patent holders, including major manufacturers. There is basically only one UMB in Qualcomm, and the patent is monopolized.

2. In order to compete, the patent holder of LTE signed a document to determine the upper limit of patent fee, which was lower than the standard of 3G patent fee at that time (but higher than 2G).

3. At that time, UMB was very fast, but it didn't add smooth upgrade to support the main communication mode. My cdma upgrade is not completed, and the 3GPP organization leading LTE has completed all network upgrades!

4. In order to avoid the monopoly of Qualcomm, all major manufacturers including China Telecom at that time indicated that they would not support the technology dominated by Qualcomm, but defined the evolution technology between LTE and WiMax.

At that time, the timing was wrong, and it happened during the financial crisis. It takes time and money to add the evolution function of major technologies to UMB, and the patent fee is compressed by LTE companies such as Ericsson, so it doesn't make much money.
