I participated in a small-scale test drive of Zhiji LS7 in Shanghai last Tuesday. After a day of test driving, the overall feeling is that there are surprises and of course some small regrets
Let’s talk about the most surprising part first. , although I have had the driving experience of L7 and I have certain expectations for the wisdom under WAE adjustment, but when you really drive this front double wishbone/rear multi-link, and the whole series comes standard with the latest German Conti? When the LS7 has a first-generation patented closed air suspension system and the latest DampTronic electromagnetic dynamic damping adjustment system, I still sincerely lament that the current independent brand chassis hardware level requirements are so high!
Needless to say comparing it with electric vehicles in the same price range, or comparing it horizontally with SUVs priced at 400,000 or even 800,000 yuan, the LS7 is at the top level. To put it simply, the vehicle's anti-roll performance is good, the chassis has a clear road feel, and you can clearly feel the four-wheel driving trajectory and grip feedback while driving. When the vehicle is traveling at high speed, the DampTronic system can quickly respond to changes in road conditions and provide better body support and stability, thereby improving vehicle safety and driving stability. The Conti?'s air suspension filters out excess fine vibrations very well, taking into account the balance of movement and comfort. The Brembo front four-piston calipers working together can also provide sufficient braking and stability during hard braking. It is a pity that this test drive was almost exclusively on a medium-high-speed elevated road section, and there was no chance to feel the feedback of this chassis in harsh road conditions.
The second surprise is that this is an extremely expensive SUV priced at 400,000 yuan. Nvidia Orin Radar; ultra-large front dome glass; 11 pieces of double-layer laminated glass in the entire vehicle; 26.3-inch, 15.5-inch giant liftable screen, 12.8-inch center screen; 24 speakers in the entire vehicle, including sky speakers, front and rear headrest speakers ; Semi-aniline leather from Germany and industry-certified Australian wool fabric materials; 180% odor-free quality of the entire vehicle; 6? airbag Far-Side? remote center airbag; customized black label aluminum-magnesium alloy direct waterfall oil-cooled motor; 100kWh? Medium-high nickel monocrystalline high-voltage battery; coupled with the stacking of materials in the driving control part of the chassis, it can definitely be regarded as full of sincerity.
Together these configurations also provide a predictable upper and lower bound. This is also one of the reasons why I like the current independent brands very much. They have broken the price anchoring of European and American luxury brands with configuration and space. Chinese consumers can get a better experience at a more affordable price. In this regard, Zhiji was extremely generous, not only giving, but also giving what could be called the best.
Finally, from a personal level, this car has its own distinctive design features. LS7 has a streamlined and sporty silhouette that is different from most models of this size. In my opinion, the compromise and transfer of practicality to design is exactly the design language that luxury cars need. The four LED daytime running light strips on the front outline a highly recognizable front face, and the similarly rising taillight lines ensure visibility and bring a sense of sportiness. In the cabin, whether it is the so-called "iMax" level star waterfall ice-feel front dome, the huge smart scene screen that can be raised or lowered, or the zero-gravity floating seats in the back row that are extremely experiential, they are all very topical. Regardless of the added driving experience, these settings alone are worthy of consumers considering putting it on their shopping list.
Of course, in addition to admiration, there is also some regret. Personally speaking, the LS7 lacks restraint in its design language and is too packed with external lines and elements, which is somewhat contrary to the extremely simplified and flat design language of current mainstream technology products.
While a lot of sporty design has been done, the back lines of the C-pillar and D-pillar sections have compromised the space, causing a hunchback feeling. The shadow of the front instrument panel will be reflected to the front gear under certain illumination angles. The YAT half-width steering wheel is still experimental. Not to mention the steering column eccentricity, the non-variable steering ratio also makes steering and U-turns in daily driving less arbitrary. It does require adaptation. I hope Zhiji's small steering ratio technology can be tested as soon as possible. The absence of the streaming interior rearview mirror also makes the small viewing area of ??the tail window a problem. Although some of these problems are personal feelings, and some can be avoided by adding accessories, they still make me feel that the product is not polished enough.
You can think of Zhiji as a pawn of SAIC, which has made full use of its supply chain advantages to impact the mid-to-high-end electric market under a relatively mature system. Naturally, you can also see quite a few top Tier 1 suppliers in the industry that we are familiar with on Zhiji’s cars. These suppliers have provided mature, reliable and even excellent solutions in terms of design, materials and manufacturing. And all of this is undoubtedly a crucial cornerstone for a good product. For such a product, what it lacks is brand awareness and influence. In any case, for such an upward domestic brand, I will repay the greatest goodwill and hope that Zhiji will go better and further.
