Whose patent is the light bulb?

The light bulb, which emits light and gives off heat through electric energy, was invented by Henry Goebbels (Edison actually found a suitable material, that is, he invented the incandescent lamp with strong practicability, and the light bulb appeared as early as 1854).

1854, American Henry Goebbels put a carbonized bamboo filament in a vacuum glass bottle to make it glow. At that time, the light bulb tested by Goebbels could last for 400 hours. But Goebbels did not apply for a design patent in time.

1874, two electrical technicians in Canada invented a technology: filling nitrogen into glass bubbles to make them glow together with charged carbon rods.

However, they have no money and can't do it. Then they did one thing-1875 and sold the patent to Edison.

1878, the year before Edison "invented" the electric light, the Englishman Joseph Wilson Swan also completed a "light bulb powered by carbon wire under vacuum". No buts this time. Swan immediately applied for a patent in Britain and began to set up a company in Britain to install electric lights in every household.

1879, Edison "experimented with 1600 kinds of materials and made thousands of experiments", and finally found that carbonized cotton silk was the best filament material. This discovery was discovered by swans as early as 19 years ago.

1880, Edison found that carbonized bamboo silk was better than cotton silk after thousands of experiments-Goebbels discovered this in 1854.

1883, Edison tried to spread electric light to Britain, and was immediately sued by Swan. Edison lost the lawsuit and was forced to let Swan join Edison and become a partner of the British Electric Company.

It was not until later that Edison paid Swan's patent fee. Of course, in the United States, Edison didn't actually get a patent for the light bulb. After years of litigation, he finally obtained the patent of "carbon filament incandescent lamp".

Then the question comes: Edison should only "improve" the electric light, but why do we still want to say that Edison invented the electric light?

That's because Addison was the first person to actually sell electric lights by building generators and power generation systems. He is an inventor and a successful entrepreneur. Edison set up a company, vigorously promoted new inventions, and made ordinary families of thousands of households use electric lights.

Edison, with deep pockets, relied on the propaganda and packaging of the media to become the "inventor" of electric light and a symbol of the prosperity of the emerging power America. Of course, Edison, as an entrepreneur, is more likely to see the business opportunities of scientific and technological inventions than scientists. By shaping him into the image of the king of invention, it is beneficial for enterprises to establish a brand image and consumers are more willing to pay.
