BYD builds a hybrid "two axes", and brokers predict that DM models will double.

Recently, BYD Auto held a DM-i super hybrid technology conference in Shenzhen. This is not so much a press conference as an hour-and-a-half technical briefing.

after two or three years of automobile manufacturers' activities, you will find that no matter how big or small the conference is, you must arrange a parking lot for singing and dancing performances. But BYD's activities are not at all, and "technical explanation" is probably the dressage of engineering enterprises.

when it comes to hybrid technology, in fact, it has been 12 years since BYD first mass-produced hybrid products. F3 DM is BYD's first car using hybrid technology, which was officially released in 28.

However, despite the development of hybrid technology for many years, BYD's hybrid technology has always been relatively simple, and it is known for its dynamic performance. Such as Han DM, the comprehensive power can reach 321kW, the comprehensive torque of the system is 65Nm, and the acceleration time of -1km/h is 4.7 seconds; For example, in Tang DM, the maximum power of the 2.T in-cylinder direct injection engine is 151kW/55rpm, the maximum torque is 32Nm/175 -45rpm, and the -1km/h acceleration time is 4.5 seconds.

The DM-i super hybrid technology means that BYD has mastered another advantage of hybrid technology-economy.

BYD has finished combing the DM system

Some models can provide good economy, while others pay more attention to sportiness. Under the ingenious adjustment of designers and engineers, multiple births with different personalities can be derived from the same technical framework or platform, such as Volkswagen Golf on MQB platform, BMW 2 Series Touring Car and MINI CLUBMAN on Audi A3 and UKL platform.

DM-i super hybrid technology is another technical route under the same platform as DM-P.

if consumers need a new energy license, but also want to give consideration to good fuel economy and lack convenient charging conditions, in this case, BYD's DM-i super hybrid system products can be included in the selection range. It is understood that the DM-i hybrid platform mainly includes three independent core components:

1) Xiaoyun high-efficiency engine: divided into 1.5L and 1.5T. The 1.5L reaches the highest thermal efficiency of mass production in the world, which is 43% higher than that of M2C engine (41%) under Toyota TNGA framework, which lays a solid foundation for its "ultra-low fuel consumption".

in addition, the engine also includes high compression ratio of 15.5, Atkinson cycle, cooling EGR, split cooling, ultra-low friction, wheelless design and other technologies.

2)DM-i special power blade battery: a single battery is formed by winding multiple blades, and each battery contains 1-2 blades. At the same time, pulse self-heating and refrigerant direct cooling technology are adopted, which can improve the heating/cooling efficiency by 1%/2%, and the DC fast charge can be 8% in 3 minutes.

3) Double-motor EHS electric hybrid system: adopting the structure of double motors, double electronic controls, direct-drive clutch and single-gear reducer, the volume and weight are reduced by 3%. At the same time, DM-i is connected in series with HEV in urban working conditions and in parallel with HEV overtaking at high speed, thus fully realizing energy saving of electric vehicles.

thanks to the above innovative technologies, the fuel consumption of the models equipped with DM-i is only 3.8 liters/1 kilometers, but the acceleration of 1 kilometers can still reach 7 seconds. The cruising range of pure electricity can reach up to 12 kilometers, and the comprehensive cruising range of oil and electricity can exceed 12 kilometers (NEDC working condition).

besides the advantages of low fuel consumption and long battery life, the price is also one of DM-i's killers.

At the press conference, three models of Qin PLUS DM-i, Song PLUS DM-i and Tang DM-i were put into pre-sale at the same time, and will be officially launched in the first, middle and late March this year. The pre-sale prices after subsidies are 17,8-147,8 yuan, 153,8-175,8 yuan and 197,8-224,8 yuan respectively.

DM-p focuses on performance, while DM-i focuses on energy saving, so BYD has also finished combing the DM system. BYD took the lead in entering the "dual platform" strategic era of DM hybrid technology, which may further enhance the "penetration" of plug-in hybrid vehicles to traditional fuel vehicles.

DM-i models: Dig more fuel vehicles for sale

In p>22, BYD sold 426,9 vehicles, down 7.46% year-on-year. Among them, BYD sold 56,322 vehicles in December, a year-on-year increase of 3.44%. In fact, BYD's actions in 22 are not small. Blade batteries, chip expansion, Xiaoyun 1.5L engine and DiLink/DiPlot can be said to follow. With BYD's current technical strength and design, the sales performance can't run the market, which is indeed lower than many people's expectations.

earlier, in an interview with sankei, Zhao Changjiang, general manager of BYD Auto Sales Co., Ltd., said that there were two major reasons for BYD's sales decline in 22: one reason was the sharp collapse of the B-end market, and the other was the serious decline of PHEV models. It is understood that the sales volume of BYD PHEV passenger cars in 218/219/22 is 12,/7,/5, respectively.

nowadays, the DM-i model with ultra-low fuel consumption, long battery life and lower cost with a number of core power technologies will probably push the sales of BYD PHEV models to a new level.

some brokers predict that BYD's PHEV sales are expected to exceed 16, vehicles in 221, and the electric sales of PHEV+EV are expected to exceed 4, vehicles (18, vehicles in 22).

at the new car launch conference of BYD's super hybrid DM-i platform, Wang Chuanfu, chairman of BYD, said that the competitor of BYD's DM-i super hybrid car is not a plug-in hybrid car, but a fuel car of the same class.

take Qin PLUS, the most cost-effective of the three DM-i models released on the same day, as an example. Its competing fuel models, including Toyota Corolla, Honda Lei Ling, Volkswagen LaVida, etc., have an annual sales volume of more than 2 million vehicles, and the replacement space is indeed large enough. Even for the benchmark hybrid Corolla and Lei Ling (the model price is about 125,-15, yuan), the price of Qin PLUS DM-i is competitive.

Of course, it remains to be verified how effective BYD's DM-i technology will be when it is finally put on a real vehicle, and whether it can surpass Japanese brands that have been deeply cultivated for many years and provide consumers with a better driving experience.

However, in the long run, BYD's overweight and hybrid will always help the future market expansion.

In the Technical Roadmap for Energy-saving and New Energy Vehicles 1., there was a requirement that by 225 and 23, the proportion of hybrid power in traditional energy passenger cars should reach 2% and 25% respectively. In 2., this proportion was increased to 5% and 75% respectively. By 235, it is required that the sales of energy-saving vehicles and new energy vehicles will each account for 5%, and the traditional fuel-powered passenger cars will all be replaced by hybrid vehicles.

This means that the hybrid technology has great development space and market potential in the future.

regarding the super hybrid DM-i platform, Li Yunfei, deputy general manager of BYD Auto Sales Co., Ltd., previously said, "This technology will definitely be shared through enterprise cooperation." He also predicted that in the future, about 4%-5% of new cars in the new energy market will be hung with the LOGO of the joint venture brand, and the core technology will come from BYD.

whether BYD's technology can support their great ambitions remains to be seen.
