The usage rate of TD-LTE4G network in the world is less than 5%. Why did China Mobile choose TD-LTE?

During the two sessions, Xi Guohua, chairman of China Mobile, expressed his confidence in TD-LTE technology with a lot of data and cases when interviewed by the media.

First, TD-LTE inherits and develops the advanced technology of TD-SCDMA, and its key performance indicators are basically the same as LTE FDD.

Second, compared with LTE FDD, TD-LTE with TDD spectrum is more suitable for mobile Internet with asymmetric services. With the increasing scarcity of frequency resources, the previously underutilized TDD spectrum becomes more and more important. However, the development of WiMAX standard, a potential competitor of TDD, is weak, and more than 400 WiMAX operators around the world have announced that they will all switch to TD-LTE standard.

Thirdly, TD-LTE has formed a complete end-to-end industrial chain led by China and widely participated in the world. The maturity of networks and terminals is in step with the development of LTE FDD. Domestic manufacturers account for more than 3/4 of the global market share of TD-LTE system equipment, and domestic brand TD-LTE terminals account for more than 76% of the domestic market share. A number of domestic chip companies are growing rapidly.

Fourth, China enterprises have a large number of TD-LTE independent intellectual property rights. Among the LTE patents disclosed by ETSI, the proportion of LTE patents owned by Chinese enterprises exceeds 20%, including a large number of TD-LTE core patents. TD-LTE standardized manuscripts submitted by Chinese enterprises account for nearly 50% and have a greater say in standard formulation. Therefore, to promote TD-LTE "going global", China enterprises will be the biggest beneficiaries.

Fifth, the internationalization of TD-LTE has achieved initial results. In the TD-LTE Global Initiative (GTI) initiated and led by China, there are 1 16 operators and 97 equipment vendors. 52 TD-LTE commercial networks have been opened in 30 countries including the United States, Japan, India and Russia, and 83 TD-LTE commercial networks in 55 countries are planned to be deployed.

Extended data

Broadband mobile communication industry is in a basic and key position in the information society, which plays an important role in promoting the economy and society and is an important part of the national information security system.

TD-LTE, as the leading fourth-generation (4G) broadband mobile communication system in China, has achieved the first time that China has led the global industry in the field of information and communication, which is an important achievement of the national innovation strategy. Based on China's leading advantages in TD-LTE industry, it is suggested that the state should support TD-LTE "going global" from the policy and work levels and actively expand overseas markets.

In the first year of 4G commercialization, China's TD-LTE construction and operation achieved remarkable results. By the end of 20 15 and 1 year, China Mobile had deployed more than 770,000 TD-LTE base stations, accounting for more than 40% of the total number of 4G base stations in the world, and built the world's largest 4G network, basically achieving the coverage of cities above the county level and developed towns.

The number of TD-LTE users exceeds 1 100 million, and in just one year, it has achieved the user scale of 10 years in the 2G era and 4 years in the 3G era. TD-LTE network quality and service experience have been recognized by the majority of users, and the number of users is still surging, which is expected to reach 250 million by the end of 20 15.
