Harbin Engineering University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China and jointly established by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Education, the People's Government of Heilongjiang Province and the PLA Navy. It is a member of the University Alliance of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
It has successively been selected into 21/engineering, 985 engineering advantage discipline innovation platform, world-class discipline construction university,1/plan, outstanding engineer education and training plan, national undergraduate innovation experiment plan, national construction of high-level university public postgraduate plan, new engineering research and practice project, and China government scholarship receiving institution for overseas students.
It has been listed in the "2 1 century plan to strengthen the army with talents" by the Ministry of Education and the General Political Department, and it is the only supporting school for the PLA Navy to select and train reserve officers in Northeast China.
