SF Express shows off its self-developed express robot. What’s the future for the courier boy?

This kind of robot will not be put into the market in large numbers soon. After all, there are still many shortcomings and imperfections. According to reports, this building delivery robot self-developed by SF Express adopts a modular design, can drive autonomously, avoid obstacles autonomously, and achieve centimeter-level real-time positioning. It is mainly used at the end of scenes such as office buildings, business districts, and communities. Automated distribution; it is connected to the elevator control system and can automatically call the elevator to deliver to people throughout the building.

It also has an 8-hour battery life, can automatically return to charge, and can also collaborate with multiple machines for real-time linkage and scheduling in accordance with building management rules. Currently, this building delivery robot has been piloted in some high-end office buildings.

SF Express has obtained and is applying for 1,982 patents, ranking first in the domestic express delivery industry. At this expo, SF Express also exhibited SF Map, a behind-the-scenes system that supports SF Express's efficiency and safety, and the AI ??vision product "Smart Eyes".

With the rise of e-commerce, the express delivery industry has mushroomed, and the demand for the profession of courier boys has gradually increased. Even now, many logistics companies have been recruiting personnel in this field. Let’s not go too far, let’s just say that JD.com recently recruited 15,000 employees, 10,000 of whom are front-line personnel in logistics. From this aspect, we can also see how important the post of courier boy is. However, if I tell you that the express delivery industry is about to change, and the delivery boys will face unemployment, robots may take their place. You may still be in disbelief and think how this is possible.

In fact, in addition to FedEx using robots for delivery, domestic JD.com also has delivery robots. Likewise, it will avoid pedestrians and vehicles, wait for traffic lights, etc. After arriving at the express delivery location, a message will be sent to the user through the system to allow the customer to come and pick up the goods. There are three ways to pick up the goods: face recognition, verification of pick-up code and mobile APP. As for this robot-on-the-road model, it is said that it has also been registered with the transportation department.
