Ren Zhengfei graduated from Chongqing Institute of Construction Engineering (now Chongqing University).
Chongqing Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture was founded in October 1952. It was the first professional college of architecture established in New China and later became the only college directly under the Ministry of Construction Engineering in Southwest China. At the same time, it also established the status of the Eighth Old School of Architecture in the reconstruction project to this day. In April 1954, it was renamed Chongqing Institute of Architectural Engineering.
In 1978, Chongqing Institute of Architectural Engineering was established as a national key university and one of the two key universities directly under the Ministry of Construction at that time. In January 1994, it was renamed Chongqing Jianzhu University and became the only key university directly under the Ministry of Construction at that time. It has the Ministry of Water Supply and Drainage Construction Key Laboratory, the Ministry of New Building Materials and Engineering Construction Key Laboratory, the Ministry of Building Science and Construction Key Laboratory, and the Ministry of Structural Engineering and Construction Key Laboratory.
In 2000, it was merged into Chongqing University to form a higher-level 985 Engineering School. After construction, the school has developed into a multi-disciplinary polytechnic university with civil architecture, urban and rural construction and environmental protection as its main professional features, focusing on engineering, and also including science, literature, law, management and other disciplines. Ren Zhengfei was born on December 25, 1944 in Zhenning Buyi and Miao Autonomous County, Anshun City, Guizhou Province, and his ancestral home is Pujiang County, Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province. Graduated from Chongqing Institute of Architectural Engineering (now merged into Chongqing University), founder of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. In 2018, he was selected into the "List of 100 Outstanding Private Entrepreneurs in the 40 Years of Reform and Opening Up" by the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce.
He is also the 2019 Chinese Economic News Person of the Year. In 2019, he was selected into the list of "Business Figures of the Year: Transnational Business Leaders" by Forbes magazine. After graduating from university, Ren Zhengfei worked in a construction engineering unit. In 1974, he was drafted into the army and entered the Infrastructure Engineering Corps.
In 1983, Ren Zhengfei transferred to Shenzhen Nanhai Petroleum Logistics Service Base. In October 1987, Ren Zhengfei, who broke away from the system, "went overseas" and founded Huawei with his partners with 21,000 yuan in capital. Under his leadership, Huawei has grown from a small company starting with 21,000 yuan to a world-class Fortune 500 company with more than 100,000 patents and an annual output value of more than 700 billion.
