In recent years, Zhengzhou University has undertaken more than 9,000 scientific research projects at all levels, including more than 60 national projects/KLOC-0 and more than 400 provincial (ministerial) key projects. More than 700 achievements have passed the national and provincial (ministerial) level appraisal, and 589 achievements have won national and provincial (ministerial) level scientific research awards. Professor Shen Changyu's "Key Mechanical Problems and Calculation Methods in Mould Design of Rubber and Plastic Products" and Professor Liu Minshan's and Professor Dong's "Research and Application of Modern Design Technology of New High-efficiency Tandem Shell-side Heat Exchanger" won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress, and Professor Zhao's "Study on Industrial Production of Dodecanedioic Acid Synthetic Nylon 12 12" won the Dupont Science and Technology Innovation Award. In 2006, Zhengzhou University won 39 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, 6 projects of the National Social Science Foundation/KLOC-0, and 656 projects of the provincial government, and the amount of scientific research funds reached more than 85 million yuan. In 2005, SCI ranked 28th among universities in China, and EI included 138 papers. Since 2003, the school has applied for 177 patents, including 95 invention patents. A number of high-tech achievements and key technologies, such as "key technology of ethanol gasoline", "biodiesel technology" and "rubber mold technology", have been industrialized, which has effectively promoted Henan's economic development and technological progress of enterprises, and further enhanced Zhengzhou University's ability to serve local economic construction and social development.
Zhengzhou University has an active academic atmosphere and extensive foreign exchanges, and has established inter-school cooperative relations with 80 well-known universities in the United States, Britain, France, Japan, Russia, Canada, Australia, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Finland, Ukraine, Hong Kong, Taiwan Province Province and other countries and regions.
