Recently, another group of Chinese companies have been "sanctioned" by the United States.
Among them, the listed company Luxshare Precision is the first to bear the brunt:
On January 21, Luxshare Precision was launched by the U.S. International Trade Commission for a Section 337 investigation due to accusations of patent infringement.
Affected by this, Luxshare Precision’s stock price plummeted, and its market value evaporated by tens of billions.
The company also responded quickly: We hold core patents and have hired lawyers to cooperate with the investigation. It will not have a substantial impact on the company.
As the leading company in the Apple industry chain in China, Luxshare Precision has always been a dark horse in the technology circle, with a market value of hundreds of billions.
Some people say:
The person at the helm of such a powerful Luxshare Precision used to be a poor "working girl": Wang Laichun.
She worked at Foxconn for 11 years, from the assembly line to the section chief, managing thousands of people.
Later, she resigned to go it alone and founded Luxshare. After 20 years of development, she became a strong rival of her old employer Foxconn.
There were rumors that the rapid development of Luxshare Precision frightened Terry Gou, and a special working group was set up to target Wang Laichun.
However, Foxconn denied this.
On the list of China's most influential business women in 2020, Wang Laichun ranked 6th, far surpassing Wu Yajun and Du Juan.
Everyone who has met Wang Laichun said that she is low-key, friendly and has a reserved personality.
It is not easy for a woman with only a junior high school education to create such a huge business empire.
Behind this, there is much worth pondering.
From Wang Laichun, I saw 5 steps for an ordinary person to successfully counterattack.
In 1963, Wang Laichun was born in a small mountain village in Shantou, Guangdong. After graduating from junior high school, she farmed with her parents at home.
There are two brothers in the family, one runs a small shop and the other works outside.
In 1988, 25-year-old Wang Laichun left the mountain village and came to Shenzhen.
This year, the State Council passed the "Regulations on Encouraging Investment by Taiwan Compatriots", and many Taiwanese brought money to build factories in the mainland.
Terry Gou also came and set up a factory outside Shenzhen to produce computer connectors: Foxconn.
The first batch of 150 female workers was recruited, and Wang Laichun was among them.
In the factory, female workers all live in Datongpu, which is hot, humid, dark and small. The food they eat is "red rice", which is red when cooked because of poor water quality.
At that time, there were frequent water and power outages.
I rest when the power goes out, but even if I get a call in the middle of the night, I have to get up and start working, often for more than ten hours in a row.
If the water supply is cut off, workers would have to go to a temporary site one kilometer away to wash their faces, brush their teeth and go to the toilet, and the conditions would be even worse.
Many female workers couldn't bear it and ran home from work, but Wang Laichun never said a word of complaint.
She would get up secretly to catch up on work when others were resting, and was discovered by her Taiwanese supervisor after a few times.
"I don't want others to see it, we're all doing it together." She just felt like she wanted to do more.
Foxconn has attached great importance to training since the establishment of the factory. Unlike most people who just mess around, Wang Laichun always studies very seriously and takes notes in a notebook.
In order to help increase the yield rate, she went to all work stations, tried them one by one, found the reasons, and fed back the data. No one asked her to do these things.
During her 10 years at Foxconn, she never asked for leave and gradually became a section chief. This is the highest position for a mainlander in a Taiwanese-owned factory and she manages thousands of employees.
As the saying goes, the harder you work, the more lucky you are.
In fact, people who really work hard have never longed for luck. They just want to do what others can do well, and do what others can do well.
Zhou Xiaoguang, known as the "Queen of Accessories", is also a person who pursues perfection in the field of accessories.
In 1985, she set up a street stall in Yiwu market to sell jewelry. Unlike others who just got goods from their superiors, she made most of her jewelry herself.
Without drawings and materials, she went to arts and crafts factories in Shanghai and Guangzhou to buy some materials, asked experts for technical knowledge, and after getting them back, she designed them by herself and processed them at night.
The initial design was not very good-looking, but it was more distinctive compared to those homogeneous products, and the sales were very good.
But Zhou Xiaoguang didn’t want to keep running a street stall, so she found a way to go to Hong Kong to study and visit.
After returning, she rented two rooms. While selling products, she also became an agent for two high-end accessories from Hong Kong.
Many people did not understand her.
Zhou Xiaoguang’s original intention was to learn from the reference, improve his own design, and make the jewelry bigger.
Later, Xinguang Jewelry Company was established, which highly insisted on product differentiation and innovation. It required hundreds of jewelry designs to be produced every day, and only 60 could be selected.
The most amazing thing is to spend more than 20,000 US dollars to buy a design drawing.
In the face of constant challenges, Shin Kong Jewelry quickly became the first in the country and was sold overseas. Even people from Swarovski came to visit the factory.
It is not difficult to see that they did not have a clear plan at first, but they just had the mentality of "I can do better than others."
If others do 50 points, I will do 80 points; if others do 80 points, I will do 100 points.
When you want to do better than others, you are essentially willing to pay more than others. In the process, you will also increase your ability to bear difficulties.
Only by increasing your abilities little by little can the road become clearer step by step.
In 1999, Wang Laichun, who never asked for leave, took more than ten days of leave.
After returning to Foxconn, she submitted her resignation report to Terry Gou, stating that she wanted to start a business and asked Terry Gou for help.
This certainly surprised Gou Taiming, but he said:
As a section chief, Wang Laichun had many opportunities to make money. She could use her advantages to invest in Foxconn’s suppliers. You can make money easily.
Moreover, reaching the top position in a large Taiwan-funded factory is a privilege that many people can only dream of.
But Wang Laichun was not here. What she saw was another factory that belonged to her.
She went home and discussed with her brother. The two of them used all their savings and borrowed more than 100,000 yuan from relatives and friends to acquire the Hong Kong Luxshare Company and build their own factory in Xixiang, Shenzhen.
The newly established Luxshare can get the same orders as Foxconn initially, producing electronic connecting wires and connectors.
This business is small, but Wang Laichun works very hard and uses all the management methods she has learned. "The slogans in the factory are all quotes from Terry Gou, exactly the same as Foxconn."
In Wang Laichun’s view, Foxconn’s ability to develop from a small factory into a large enterprise proves that its management methods are correct.
From 1990 to 1999, factories sprouted up all over Shenzhen, and people from all over the country poured in. As a middle-level manager at Foxconn, Wang Laichun must have seen it.
Therefore, she is taking the most critical step.
Having said that, there are thousands of people who see opportunities, and those who can take action must be the best.
Chen Ailian of Wanfeng Auto is also such a person.
Chen Ailian originally worked in a textile factory run by her husband. Due to her outstanding work ability, she was transferred to a factory that produces aluminum products.
Soon after, she discovered that the internationally accepted automobile wheels were changing from steel wheels to aluminum wheels. This gave her great inspiration. Without much hesitation, she decided to go it alone.
I made an appointment with a few young people in the factory, borrowed 500,000 as working capital, and got 4 gravity casting machines on credit. I had no money to rent a house, so I built a shed between two other people's factories.
The most difficult thing was that there was no trial production sample, so Chen Ailian disassembled the wheel hub of a brand new Yamaha motorcycle imported from Japan given to her by her husband and used it as a test product.
At the same time, she works with the technical team every day to measure technical parameters and draw drawings, working day and night.
After the first batch of products were made, there was no sales, so Chen Ailian went out in person, worked hard, and won more than a hundred orders.
With this courage and courage, Chen Ailian led Wanfeng Auto to successfully go public and undergo several transformations, becoming the leader in the aluminum wheel segment industry.
Every entrepreneur is a brave person. They don’t seek ease or speed, but only take the most difficult road.
Starting a business is difficult. Only by doing difficult and correct things can you have a greater chance of success.
Many times, the easiest path is also the most dangerous and most likely to fail.
Laozi said: He who conquers others is strong; he who conquers himself is strong.
The prerequisite for success is to let action overcome inner fear.
In 2003, Motorola and Samsung mobile phones were in full bloom.
This year, Foxconn won an order from Motorola, and its business volume increased sharply. At the same time, costs and manpower have also increased significantly.
Terry Gou quit, he said in the meeting,
The news quickly reached Wang Laichun, and she decided to take over the orders that Foxconn could not finish.
First of all, follow the steps of Foxconn and entrust the orders received to some processing plants in Kunshan for cooperative production.
The second step is to transform Luxshare Precision into a joint-stock company and build a second factory in Shenzhen.
The third step is to create its own industrial chain layout and invest in building a factory in Ji'an, Jiangxi.
In conjunction with Foxconn's measures, these steps quickly won a large number of orders from Foxconn. Almost all of those orders with low value, weak profit, and small total volume were accepted by Wang Laichun happily.
In the nearly five years since then, Luxshare has grown stronger by doing orders that Foxconn does not want.
According to the prospectus published by Luxshare Precision in 2010, orders received from Foxconn accounted for 40-50% of operating revenue.
In the outside world, Luxshare Precision is regarded as Foxconn’s younger brother and shadow company.
For Wang Laichun, being able to rely on Foxconn at that time was the best choice. He did not have to worry about orders and could make profits, even if he was tightly trapped.
Therefore, before Luxshare went public in 2010, Wang Laichun did not forget to recruit Guo Taiming's younger brother and agreed to subscribe for 4 million shares of Luxshare Precision.
From making connecting cables, to transferring orders from Foxconn, to planning for listing, the development process of Luxshare Precision is the path for Wang Laichun’s heart and stage to continuously expand.
People who achieve great things know that when they see a path, they must follow it immediately.
This is especially true for He Qiaonu of Oriental Gardens.
He Qiaonv originally had a stable job in the Garden Bureau, but she quit her job to take the TOEFL exam. Due to various reasons, she was unable to go out and returned home to plant flowers and trees with her father.
During the 1990 Asian Games, He Qiaonv and her father went to Beijing to hold a bonsai exhibition.
The Asian Games attracted much attention that year. The delegations and athletes exceeded those of the previous ten games. On the landscape, there were various green plants in various shapes, such as the panda Panpan.
Here, He Qiaonv first saw people’s love for bonsai. Many foreigners bought hundreds of bonsais without blinking an eye.
He Qiaonv realized this business opportunity.
After the Asian Games, she quickly rented a greenhouse next to the university school and went to Guangzhou to purchase a batch of bonsai, focusing on high-end hotels and office buildings.
He Qiaonv can speak English well and her sales are promising.
When she had nothing to do, she often went to maintain and take care of the plants she sold, which left a deep impression on people, and many people took the initiative to introduce her business.
After a while, He Qiaonv observed that there were almost no competitors in bonsai making, so she quickly raised funds to establish the Oriental Garden Art Center.
More than ten years later, Oriental Garden A shares were listed, becoming the first garden stock.
If you want to be strong, you have to take advantage of the trend and constantly change your vision and strategies.
Wang Jianlin once said that the heart and the stage gradually enlarge.
Rather, a person's ability and ambition are constantly improving.
Do what you want to do first. Time and experience will allow you to grow. When enough abilities are accumulated, ambition is ambition.
Otherwise, it is not wise to talk about ambition rashly.
Wang Laichun said: "The one who can fly with the phoenix must be a handsome bird."
In fact, she does not just want to be Foxconn's "Foxconn", but wants to be a real of phoenix.
After learning enough excellent experience, Wang Laichun planned the layout for Luxshare:
Using Foxconn’s partner relationship as a bargaining chip to negotiate, he won Lenovo’s order, and soon Won orders from several major customers including Tongfang, Founder and Flextronics.
Transform the single processing business to independent research and development, and develop an independent brand of desktop connecting cables.
With the support of these major customers, Luxshare Precision has developed rapidly and will soon be listed on the market.
In the second year after listing, Wang Laichun officially started the road of mergers and acquisitions.
For five years, continuous mergers and acquisitions have enabled Luxshare to form a basic pattern of "headquarters in Dongguan, production in Jiangxi, and R&D in Kunshan", involving consumer electronics products, communication products, automobiles and medical products.
This caused people to call Wang Laichun "Octopus" and crazily suck nutrients and nourishment from the outside world.
Truly powerful people are not born to be great, but they just know how to constantly make themselves stronger.
Jiang Guilan, a tableware supplier to KFC and McDonald's and the owner of the world's largest injection molding factory, happens to be such a person.
In the first few years, the factory produced everything, including washbasins, hangers, tableware, etc. Although there was slight improvement, it was not competitive.
Jiang Guilan, who was struggling to find a way out, learned that there was a Canton Fair in 1995. She immediately took action and asked the factory to produce a batch of products with the best quality. She took people and samples to the site and asked one by one who I am willing to give up some of my stall to her.
Because small factories have no chance to attend the Canton Fair.
After three days of inquiries and lots of talking, I finally bought one-sixth of a stall.
After getting the stall, Jiang Guilan immediately hung up the products. In an area of ??less than 1.5 square meters, she received orders from a Hong Kong customer and a European customer.
Since then, Jiang Guilan has opened up foreign markets, and through 8 years of hard work, established a factory in the United States.
But in terms of management, we are faced with a big problem. Many people often do not come to work without asking for leave. The work only accepts the time system, and the efficiency is very low.
In spite of her distress, she decided to cooperate with the local people and hired them to manage the company with a high salary. After comprehensive opinions from various parties, she greatly improved her enthusiasm by adding rewards to the basic workload.
At the same time, by using the marketing method of cooperation with locals, it has won orders from many American catering companies such as KFC and Burger King. The products have also been transformed many times, ranging from ordinary tableware to environmentally friendly tableware.
A horse can't take ten steps with one leap; a horse can ride ten times, but the merit lies in perseverance.
The road to success cannot be reached in one day, but learning from others will make you go faster.
It is a smart person’s approach to integrate and utilize the strengths of others with limited personal abilities.
Apple founder Steve Jobs once said: stay hungry, stay foolish.
This sentence means, stay hungry and keep exploring.
Always seek outside and constantly break through yourself. After hibernation comes spring.
In 2007, iPhone1 was launched. At that time, Foxconn relied on its OEM experience in the mobile phone field to successfully obtain all iPhone 1 orders.
In the following years, most of Apple’s orders were given to Foxconn, and the two have a very close relationship.
But few people know that after Luxshare acquired Liantao Electronics, it has already received key orders for iPad internal cables and iPhone adapters.
Of course, these orders are not what Foxconn wants.
In fact, Apple has long been dissatisfied with the dominance of one supplier, because there is no advantage in negotiating prices.
After Cook came to power, he vigorously cut off suppliers, closed warehouses, and shortened the production cycle, which put great pressure on Foxconn.
At this time, Wang Laichun walked into Cook's sight with calm steps.
Luxshare Precision first won the Apple Lightning data cable business; the next year, it conquered the Apple Watch wireless charging module and became a core supplier; in 2016, it OEMed the first-generation Watch components.
This journey relies on strength.
Wang Laichun is very willing to invest in R&D. R&D investment accounts for 7% of operating income, and all of it is expensed. The R&D ratio of Industrial Fii is only 2.3.
In 2016, Apple launched a new wireless headset, but the production requirements were extremely high, with hundreds of precision components packed into it. The original foundry, Inventec Taiwan, never quite met the yield rate requirements.
In 2017, Cook came to Kunshan Luxshare Precision, and Wang Laichun personally led the tour.
The two parties watched the female workers operating in the factory and had a pleasant conversation. Cook said:
In addition to being a supplier to Apple, Luxshare Precision is also a supplier to Huawei, Xiaomi, and vivo. Entering the field of automotive wiring harness assembly.
Since then, Luxshare Precision has truly escaped the shadow of Foxconn and has become comparable to it.
Perhaps Wang Laichun would not have thought 20 years ago that he could achieve the success he has today.
In fact, every step of Luxshare Precision is very stable and practical. OEM brings income, develops its own brand, takes small orders that others do not want, overcomes difficulties, exchanges for the market, integrates resources, innovates and improves, and wins trust.
Everything comes naturally, but it’s all step by step.
If you want to emerge from the cocoon and become a butterfly, you must practice the basic skills diligently.
If you follow others, you will only get scraps. If you exchange your skills, you will have a bright future.
Some people say: Only the best you can encounter the best world.
If you are really good, you don’t need the whole world. You can create the world you want.
A person's success is nothing more than 5 steps: grow in the direction you want, follow people worth learning from, accumulate hard work, and create your own value system.
Just like there is a saying:
"Success in the denial of others is a great thing, because it proves that you not only defeated yourself, but also defeated others. ”
