Characteristics of Tencel Fabric
Tencel fabric has the comfort of cotton, the strength of polyester, the luxurious aesthetic feeling of wool fabric, the unique touch and soft drape of silk, and it is extremely tough whether it is wet or dry. In wet state, it is the first cellulose fiber whose wet strength is far superior to that of cotton.
Tencel fabric, as a 100% pure natural material, combined with environmentally-friendly manufacturing technology, makes the lifestyle based on the protection of the natural environment, and fully caters to the needs of modern consumers. Tencel fiber has a uniform cross section, but the bonding between fibrils is weak and inelastic.
If Tencel fiber is subjected to mechanical friction, the outer layer of the fiber will break and form fluff with a length of about 1~4 microns, which is more likely to be produced in wet state and even entangled into cotton particles in severe cases. However, in a hot and humid environment, the fabric will harden slightly, which is a big disadvantage. Tencel fabric is slightly more expensive than ordinary all-around fabric and cheaper than silk fabric.
