Individual rations in China

The research on individual soldier field rations has been in our army for decades, which can be summarized as "three generations". Representative products include scout food, special individual food and ordinary individual food.

The first generation is war food. It consists of three staple foods: compressed dry food, dehydrated noodles and dehydrated rice, and three non-staple foods: canned lunch meat, canned stir-fried meat and canned diced meat with sauce. During this period, military rations have formed a structure of matching main and non-staple foods.

The second generation of Lu Qin series field food, such as dehydrated rice. In China, soft-packed canned food and dehydrated rice were first developed by our army in China. These foods are actually fast food, including rice, vegetables and soup, which is in line with the eating habits of officers and men.

In the third generation development period, a new type of "instant noodles" came out, which not only tastes better than civil instant noodles, but also can be soaked in boiling water or cold water, and its convenience made the world applaud. This noodle has won two national invention patents. At the same time, our army's fast food rice has also been successfully developed and will be equipped with troops one after another.

However, there are some problems in the use of the above products, and some staple foods (mainly canned rice and noodles in soft packages) cannot be eaten normally because of starch retrogradation. Therefore, as an important problem to improve our army's battlefield food support ability, the hot food of individual rations is one of the problems to be solved urgently in our army's logistics support. The main components of the individual field rations equipped by our army are staple food and non-staple food of various soft and hard cans. For soft-packed cans, flameless ration heaters can be used for self-heating to realize hot eating. For hard canned products, solid fuel heating can be used to realize their hot eating. For this kind of rations, it is mainly to develop flameless rations heaters and solid fuels with high thermal efficiency, small volume, wide application range and moderate price.

It is also necessary to develop main and non-staple food varieties that are suitable for the eating habits of our officers and men, suitable for self-heating, good in taste, novel in packaging form and convenient to eat. Advanced computer design is adopted to optimize the packaging combination form with the highest thermal conductivity. The pork omelet in the PLA's individual rations is not as good as ready-to-eat, and getting used to field rations is getting used to modern warfare. "Rest in place, 15 minutes for dinner!" In early autumn, in the depths of Songshan Mountain, Xin Huang, the company commander of the 6th Battalion of a communication terminal in jinan military area command, gave an order to the team that had just completed the 5km emergency March. Hearing this, the soldiers were at a loss: before dawn, the whole company set out for an emergency assembly. Traditionally, they all go back to the camp to eat, and never bring rice noodles, fruits and vegetables and cookers. There are no shops in the barren hills. What to eat?

"One person, one pack, heat yourself according to the instructions." When the cooking squad leader handed out the self-heating food for individual soldiers, everyone wanted to taste it: the rations were issued by the company and have never been consumed. It was really eaten in the mouth, and many people grinned: "It can't be compared with a big meat bag!"

The connection of optical cables in the field and the harassment of small "enemies" ... That morning, five combat readiness courses made everyone exhausted. At lunch time, the officers and men asked to go back to camp to eat, or cook on the spot, unwilling to eat that "heat" again. But Huang Lianchang still moved to the field for dry food. The reason is three words: fighting.

"Because the company's related training has not kept up, some comrades are in the wild, but their brains are in the camp. They didn't have a strong sense of actual combat and preparation, but they cried out to fight, but they wanted to live a comfortable life ... "After withdrawing troops and returning to camp, Huang Lianchang hit the nail on the head, truthfully wrote it into the summary and reported it to the main station.

The training department immediately tracked and found that many battalion companies' field dry food was just "decoration": some could not tell the battalion and did not need to eat it; Some people say that the taste is not as good as the food. ...

"When you prepare for war, you must taste it. If you fight, you have to eat bitter fruit. " In order to strengthen the combat readiness awareness of officers and men and make up for the congenital deficiency of the lack of "wildness" in the combat readiness of fixed communication stations, the main station will take every Friday as a combat readiness training day, eat field rations all day and camp outside the camp that night.
