The college makes full use of the advantages of tropical and subtropical biological resources and has achieved a number of important theoretical and applied results in aquaculture, agriculture, biomedicine, ecological environment and other fields. In the past five years, he has presided over 721 national-level scientific research projects of various types, with project funding of more than 200 million yuan, including 55 "863" and "973" projects, 110 National Natural Science Foundation projects (including 4 key projects, National Outstanding Youth 4 funds); won more than 20 provincial and ministerial level awards, applied for 180 patents, and authorized 58 patents. It has published more than 40 monographs (including textbooks) and more than 2,000 papers. The number of SCI papers included has increased year by year, and the quality has been significantly improved. In 2005, the school published 158 SCI papers, with a total impact factor of 382.76 and an average of 2.42, ranking among the top among similar departments in universities across the country.
