Why is the alphabetical arrangement of the keyboard not alphabetical?

Shoals put the letters in the wrong order in order to keep the keystroke speed from being too fast and avoid the "key jam" failure.

Reason:

First, shors installs the alphabetic keys of the keyboard in alphabetical order, which means that the upper left corner of the keyboard is ABCDE. However, he soon found that when the typist works at a slightly faster speed, the two-letter rod and the hammer may stick together, causing the key to get stuck.

To solve this problem, Shoals turned to his brother-in-law for help. His brother-in-law is a mathematician and a school teacher. Shoals happily adopted his brother-in-law's solution and arranged the letters in order, forming a "QWERTY" layout.

Common keyboard layout classification

1."qwerty keyboard.

1868, ChristopherLathamSholes, an American compositor, obtained the patent and operation right of the typewriter model.

A few years later, he put forward the current keyboard layout, called "QWERTY" keyboard.

2. "Dvorak keyboard

Due to the emergence of science and technology, the speed of pressing keys for the blind can meet the needs of daily work. But in 60 years (1934), Washington was called dvorak and invented a new calibration method. This keyboard can shorten the training period 1/2 and increase the average speed by 35%.

3. "malt" keyboard

More reasonable and efficient than dvorak is Lillian Matt's malt keyboard.

The MALT keyboard has changed the original staggered keys, used the thumb more, and made it easier to touch the backspace key and other keys far away from the center of the keyboard.

However, the malt keyboard needs to install special hardware on the computer, so it has not been widely used.
