Retrieval of literature on English teaching belongs to the literature information retrieval type.
Documents are all carriers that record human knowledge and information. They consist of four elements: document content, carrier materials, information symbols, and recording methods. Documents are graded into zero documents, primary documents, secondary documents and tertiary documents.
Retrieval includes two processes: information storage and retrieval. Information storage is to collect a large amount of disordered information, and organize, classify, condense, index, etc. according to the appearance characteristics and content characteristics of the information source. Process, make it systematic and orderly, and build a database or retrieval system with retrieval function according to certain technical requirements for people to retrieve and utilize.
Retrieval refers to using prepared retrieval tools or retrieval systems to find specific information that meets user requirements. Literature retrieval refers to the process of obtaining literature according to the needs of study and work. We now mainly conduct literature searches through computer technology.
Research literature path:
1. Author path. Many retrieval systems have author indexes and institution (institutional authors or the institution where the author works) indexes. Patent document retrieval systems have patentee indexes. These indexes are used to retrieve the names of authors, editors, translators, patentees, or names of institutions and organizations. The search path along the way is collectively called the author path.
2. Title approach. Some retrieval systems provide ways to search in title order, such as book title catalogs and journal title catalogs.
3. Classification methods. Search literature by subject classification system. This approach is based on the classification and inspection of knowledge systems, which facilitates us to search for literature materials from the scope of the subject, and can play the role of "drawing parallels". Retrieval of literature materials from classification methods mainly uses classification catalogs and classification indexes.
4. Theme approach. Search the literature by subject words that reflect the content of the literature. Since the topic method can reflect all aspects of literature on a topic, it is convenient for readers to conduct comprehensive and systematic thematic research on a certain issue, thing or object. We can find all aspects of literature on the same topic through the subject directory or index.
5. Other citation pathways, serial number pathways, code pathways, and special project pathways.
