The focus of the agricultural industry is in this respect, that is, there is no doubt about the effect of new intellectual property protection measures in the agricultural field.
In the survey, experts agree that large seed companies will pay more and more attention to seed production and sales in profitable markets. The rights, patents, trademarks and industrial secrets of plant breeders will be the basic elements to prove the competitiveness of these companies. However, Mexican companies may also benefit. Frankly speaking, the reason for this statement may be considered bold and speculative, that is, the public and personal resources used for research and development in the agricultural sector are not enough to support an innovation strategy.
In addition, it can be found that even though research centers and national seed companies are aware of the value of protecting science and technology, they are not aware of the use and influence of most intellectual property rights. In the end, they cannot design and introduce the protection and development strategy of science and technology well. More evidence of this unfavorable situation comes from the patent statistics published by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property for Mexican bioscience (see chart 1, 2 and 3). Obviously, as has been happening since this century, the protection of intellectual property rights so far is mainly beneficial to foreigners.
