Huawei's 5G antenna technology has made a new breakthrough: the carrying power is more than one kilowatt, and the radiation efficiency is improved by 2%.

recently, Huawei released a 5G antenna technology called CableFree, which made a major breakthrough in key areas such as base station antenna integration, radiation efficiency and power capacity, and marked a new era of antenna development in the 5G era.

it is understood that Huawei CableFree technology has broken through the bottleneck of current antenna design, and effectively improved all aspects of antenna capabilities.

1)5G has better high frequency coverage. 5G uses a higher frequency band and needs higher antenna gain to provide higher wide coverage. At the same time, the coverage of 5G network needs multi-band cooperation, such as using 1.8GHz/2.1GHz and other frequency bands as 5G uplink, and high-frequency coverage plays an important role in the continuity of 5G experience. CableFree technology improves the radiation efficiency of antenna by about 2%, thus improving the coverage quality.

2) meet the greater output power demand brought by more frequency bands and more channels in the 5G era. The demand for high capacity and high speed in the 5G era requires the application of more spectrum and higher-order MIMO, and the antenna carrying power will increase from 5 watts to 6 watts or more. CableFree technology improves the antenna power capacity by more than 8%, meeting the greater output power demand in the 5G era.

3) Lighten the weight of the antenna and make it easy to install and deploy. The high integration of antenna components effectively reduces the weight of the antenna. Taking the 6-band antenna as an example, the overall weight is reduced by about 1kg, and the weight of the multi-band antenna is controlled within 5kg, thus avoiding the use of cranes, thus simplifying the installation process and saving the installation cost.

4) The PIM performance of the antenna is better. CableFree technology reduces 8% screws and welding points inside the antenna, reduces PIM risk and ensures long-term PIM stability; Its new architecture and technology improve the proportion of production automation and ensure better consistency of mass production performance.

CableFree technology adopts technologies such as cable-free feed design and integrated phase shifter design, which improves antenna integration and antenna performance. CableFree technology will be applied to Huawei Munich Pro, Golden Mini and London Pro series antennas, as well as 32T32R Massive MIMO and other products.

According to a joint study conducted by Technical University of Berlin and German intellectual property research company Iplytics in January this year, Huawei is currently the company with the largest number of 5G patents in the world, with * * * having 3,147 5G patents, followed by Samsung Electronics, * * * having 2,795 5G patents, and ZTE ranking third with 2,561 5G patents.

Earlier, Ren Zhengfei, the founder of Huawei, said that about 2% to 3% of the company's annual R&D expenditure is used for research and innovation, and 7% is used for product development.

Huawei has invested more than 6 billion yuan in R&D in the past decade. Last year, its R&D expenditure was as high as 131.7 billion yuan, accounting for 15.3% of the annual sales revenue. This year, it is expected to invest more than 2 billion US dollars.
