What is the difference between acyclovir and ganciclovir?
Contact: They are all nucleoside broad-spectrum antiviral drugs. Clinically, it is mainly used to fight herpes virus. Comparison: Penciclovir ointment in the treatment of recurrent herpes simplex takes effect faster and has a shorter course of treatment than acyclovir for external use. Pharmacological effects of penciclovir: penciclovir is phosphorylated by virus thymine deoxynucleoside kinase to penciclovir monophosphate, and then cell kinase converts penciclovir monophosphate into active penciclovir triphosphate, which competes with deoxyguanosine triphosphate to inhibit herpes virus polymerase, thus inhibiting virus DNA synthesis and blocking virus replication. Pharmacological effects of acyclovir: After acyclovir enters virus-infected cells, it competes with deoxynucleoside for viral thymidine kinase or cell kinase, and this product is phosphorylated into activated acyclovir triphosphate, which is used as a substrate for viral DNA replication to compete with deoxyguanine triphosphate for disease DNA polymerase, thus inhibiting viral DNA synthesis.
