On the other hand, charles seeberger bought an invention patent on escalators at 1898, and cooperated with Otis Elevator Company to manufacture the first escalator with horizontal steps, handrails and comb plates in New York State at 1899. At the Paris Expo held in 1900, Seeburg successfully exhibited their product "escalator" and won the first prize. 19 10 Otis acquired Seeburg's patent and Renault's company the following year. 1920, Otis combined the two designs and became the basic design of today's escalator.
