What is the connection between Yuan Longping's great achievements and patriotism?

Mr Yuan Longping's greatness comes from the title of "Father of Hybrid Rice". He is a symbolic figure. So affirming what he means is affirming patriotism.

But what I want to say is that what everyone said is not completely correct. The correct statement is that Yuan Lao is great, but not as great as propaganda. Everyone believes in propaganda because they don't understand the history and reality of rice hybrid technology and rice planting.

First of all, Yuan Lao was indeed the first person who succeeded in increasing hybrid rice production in China, but he was not the only one. At that time, universities such as Dongnong, Zhongnong and Huanong, agricultural research institutes of provincial research institutes, and a large number of researchers and institutions were engaged in hybrid rice breeding experiments. The hybrid method was not originally created by Yuan Lao, but the main direction of agricultural science and technology in Japan and the United States, and naturally it was also the main direction of agricultural scientific research in China at that time. Yuan Lao was indeed the first person to find a variety with a yield of six tons per hectare, but it was not without other people doing research in the same field. As far as I know, Wang Lao of Dongnong. That can't be helped, because the harvest period in Northeast China is late. In other words, even without Yuan Lao, it would only be a few months before someone else solved the problem. Therefore, he won the first prize, but it doesn't mean that there would be no hybrid rice achievement today without him.

Secondly, Yuan Lao did make great contributions to increasing grain output, but it is impossible to say that he solved the problem of food and clothing for China people. This is a little professional. Rice is divided into accumulated temperature zones. From nine-leaf varieties in Heihe River in Northeast China to nineteen-leaf varieties in South China, different leaf varieties cannot be planted across the accumulated temperature zone. Taking Heilongjiang as an example, if 9, 10, 16 and 12 leaf varieties are planted in five accumulated temperature zones from cold to warm, cross-regional planting will reduce production, which is a theoretical problem. In other words, Yuan Lao's varieties can only be planted in the local accumulated temperature zone in the experimental area, while the vast rice producing areas in China can only grow local varieties. I don't know if you know what I mean. Yuan Lao's rice seeds cannot be popularized across regions. Even now, there are not as many varieties of Yuan Lao as expected. In other words, most of the food China people eat is not Yuangu food. Yuan Lao's rice feeds more than one billion people in China, which is a false proposition.

Third, he didn't study rice alone, and his achievements were not his alone. The research of hybrid rice is a systematic project, and more people are engaged in this work. Take Heilongjiang as an example. Dozens of agricultural research institutes and seed research institutes such as Dongnong, Kendao, Longdao and Suidao are working at the same time. Each research institute independently supports one side of rice production and technology popularization, which does not mean that Yuan Lao is the only one in the rivers and lakes. Even if there is a Wulin leader in the Jianghu, there are eight sects and seventy-two small sects in the country, and there are countless collateral branches.

Fourth, rice hybridization is not a high-tech research, but a high-labor research. As we all know, hybridization is actually the process of hybridization and seed selection between different parents. After that, it is not a high-tech research to choose high-yield varieties and observe the stress resistance, disease resistance grade and the relationship between water and fertilizer. Interestingly, it is the theoretical study of rice growth that really makes the rice yield per hectare in China exceed 6 tons. Yuan Lao recently reached 18 tons in the experimental field. In 1980s, the Japanese provided assistance to China, including rice planting theory and technology, of which two were the most important, one was rice planting in dry land and the other was nitrogen control and high yield technology. At present, the high yield of rice is completely based on these two theories, which is what many people call the high water and high fertilizer technology in Yuan Lao experimental field. The use of pesticides, fertilizers and antibiotics is also after the reform and opening up. The intervention of modern agricultural machinery is the requirement that actual production can approach the theory. Therefore, there is no secret about Yuan Lao's high-yield technology. His high-yield experimental field is more like his own and his own yield competition game, which can no longer be extended to the field for farmers to promote planting. Yuan Lao himself said that hybrid rice has basically come to an end, and the next breakthrough must be genetically modified rice. Let's just say that the increase in rice production is not the specific contribution of anyone, but the result of scientific and technological progress. The first recorded increase in rice production in China came from Zhancheng rice imported during the Northern Song Dynasty. The second time came from hybrid high-quality varieties. The third leap comes from modern industrial technology, that is, chemical fertilizer provides nutrients, pesticides control weeds, antibiotics resist diseases, and in-depth study of rice growth and reproduction process.

So, I don't deny that Yuan Lao is great, but I don't think Yuan Lao is that great. Without him, there would be no hybrid rice today, only a few months later at most. In the rice that feeds all China people, the share of rice in Yuanlao area is obviously not 100%. Even if Yuan Lao applied for a patent, people in China could not eat without hybrid rice, because the patent was granted not for hybrid methods, but for rice varieties. Without Yuan Jiadao, there will be other self-produced rice to fill the vacancy, that's all.

Yuan Lao is definitely an expert, major, moral and ethical. His dedication, in my opinion, actually represents the silent dedication of farmers. They are all patriots. However, Yuan Lao, as the first person to cross the line, was remembered and praised, so that he was mistakenly thought to be the only one on the runway. I think that is a distortion of the facts and an injury to Yuan Lao. Restoring one of the agricultural leaders did not affect his glory. Only in this way can we really inspire more farmers, of course, more farmers.
