Hello, I am happy to answer your question.
PRS guitars are an absolute bargain, and their materials, design and technical sophistication have all been exhaustively researched. If you don’t believe it, you can ask PRS’s competitors whether they reduce the humidity of the wood to below 7% (the humidity of PRS’s sandalwood fingerboard is 3%), and whether the workers on every production line are guitarists. , or will they regularly make additional investments in better machinery and equipment?
PRS guitars can definitely "preserve their value" because PRS products have a high residual value and are constantly sought after by guitar collectors and connoisseurs in the second-hand market. In fact, the current market price of many of PRS's limited edition guitars, such as the Dragon series, is much higher than their original selling price. There is no doubt that among high-end guitar brands, PRS occupies an absolute advantage.
Company background
Paul Reed Smith started from scratch. In college, he worked on his own research project alone and made his first guitar. His dream was to one day become a successful guitar maker. In 1985, together with some rare supporters such as Carlos Sanata, he devoted himself to his dream without hesitation and opened his first factory in Annapolis, Maryland.
In the PRS Custom series, classic yellow, crimson and royal blue, as well as the now world-famous bird note, are the first batch of products from this factory. It is also the core product we currently produce.
In January 1996, PRS opened another factory, covering an area of ??25,000 square feet, with 125 employees, and consistently insisted on making high-quality guitar products, Paul Reed Smith I stay in the factory almost every day, insist on strict quality control, and carefully maintain the factory quality of PRS. In addition, he is also in charge of the R&D department's research and development of new product projects. As a president, he often plays guitar, which is indeed rare. The band Dragons, which he formed himself, has performed at almost every trade fair around the world and participated in a series of promotional activities.
Editor’s note: This is an article in the sales guidebook of the world-famous high-end guitar brand PRS. Although it is a sales guidebook, it records a lot about PRS’s growth, corporate philosophy, brand composition, etc. The growth process of a famous brand, and of course, the brand's services - these have created a world-famous guitar brand - PRS!

Our Necks
Our Neck Points There are two types: glued and tacked. For example, Artists, Dragon, Custom22, Custom 24, McCarty, McCarty Soapbar, McCarty Archtop and McCarty Hollowbody series are all glued-in necks. The CE22, CE24, and Swamp Ash limited series all have socket necks.
Of course, it is necessary for us to clarify to our customers that no matter what kind of neck they are, their service life is the same. The only difference lies in the feel of their different timbres. The neck of the glued guitar is usually made of mahogany and the body of the guitar is mahogany/maple. The result is a warm and woody sound with a full midrange. The joint-type neck and fingerboard are usually made of sandalwood or maple, which makes the sound more lively and realistic.
At the same time, we are also increasing production of some limited edition guitars. For example, there are a series of products using solid East Indian "Exclusive Collection" necks and Brazilian sandalwood fingerboards, as well as McCartys' sandalwood necks and East Indian sandalwood fingerboards. Guitars using these necks can play like a piano. The tone and harmonic performance of the entire range are also very rich. Of course, due to the high cost of the neck, the price of the entire guitar is much more expensive than ordinary maple guitars.
Also, please. You must show your customers that PRS's Mao-type guitars are definitely not low-end products. Their unique design will definitely give you unexpected results. Some top guitar players would rather choose our Mao-type products. . Unlike ordinary lattice guitars, the PRS neck design allows players to easily reach every fret.
If any customer would like to order our exclusive collection, please call Joe Knaggs Or the manufacturer, we will provide you with all the help you need.
Neck width: Except for the Santanas series (24 1/1"), all other series of PRS guitars have 25" fretboards. The radius is 10", the Santanas series is 13", and the frets we use are also developed and designed by ourselves. Our frets are definitely stronger than many similar products, especially for the height and radius of our PRS. The wider neck width allows you to bend the strings more easily (like Gibson's 24 3/4"), while still having a harmonious range like Fender's 25 1/2.
Number of Frets : PRS's Customs and CE's series offer both 24-fret and 22-fret necks to choose from. Santanas are standard with 24 frets, Swamp Ash's limited series McCarty, McCarty Soapbar, McCarty Archtop and McCarty Hollowbody as well as our limited edition guitars. They all use 22-fret necks.
Please note that the width of the neck is the same, but the length of the neck is different by 2 frets.
The original PRS has a 24th fret, with clean tone and satisfactory harmony. It is easier to play a full two-octave scale. The 22nd fret has a relatively shorter neck, and the bridge and neck are more inserted into the body. It makes the sound fuller and retains the original sound of the instrument.
Neck shape: We also provide 3 types of necks for you to choose from. We will introduce them to you one by one below, but please note that they are different. The price of the neck is different.
The width of the regular neck nut is 1 21/32", which is between the old Les Paul Jr. and the 1950s Tele. Just right. This neck is suitable for guitars with 24 frets.
Wide and thin necks are usually 1 21/32" wide at the nut. The feel is very similar to the 1960/61 ES335. This neck is found on both 22 and 24 fret guitars. It is applicable.
The width of the saddle of the wide neck is the same as that of the wide and thin neck, but the thickness is better. Its playing sound is basically similar to that of the conventional neck. Honest. 22-fret guitars use this kind of neck.
What makes PRS never go out of tune?
PRS’s nut material, cutaways, and windings are all passed through. Specially designed to minimize string friction and make tuning as accurate as possible
PRS is made of a material that is more durable than bone. The instrument is located on both sides of the headstock, so that the pluck vibration can be transmitted to the neck of the guitar perfectly. Its depth also prevents the strings from being further constrained, which is the case with PRS guitars. Absolutely not audible.
Except for the McCarty series, all PRS guitars are equipped with our patented knob. It works like a boat peg... Looking down at the winding machine.
Our body
Wood selection: Almost all PRS guitars are made of mahogany, with the exception of the Seamp Ash series.
Customs, McCarty, Santanas, most limited editions, and CE's top maple series are all made of 7/8" thick maple veneer, mahogany body, and piping They are also carefully crafted and absolutely thinner than 1/4".
Standards and regular CE series usually have exquisite carvings, and the body is carved from a single piece of mahogany. The McCarty Archtop and McCarty Hollowbody collections feature carved fir veneers with solid mahogany backs and sides. McCarty Archtop McCarty Archtop Artist and McCarty Hollowbodys series have solid embossed maple veneers on the front and back, and solid mahogany on the sides.
The difference in tone between them is simply:
The maple veneer on the mahogany body highlights the original warmth of mahogany. The all-mahogany body has a warm sound when played, making it suitable for rock guitars. Because our Swamp Ash collection series is equipped with McCarty pickups, the warmth and characteristics of the sound are more significant, and the mid- and high-range performance is particularly outstanding. Because they are made entirely of solid wood, our McCarty Archtops and McCarty Hollowbodies have excellent vibration and reverberation sounds. The fir veneer can make the sound more rounded and the midrange warm and clear. The performance of maple veneer in the high range is relatively outstanding and clear. Due to the all-solid wood design, I believe our sound will become more perfect day by day.
Our Famous Veneers Our high-quality maple veneers are also renowned for. I believe that any musician will be attracted by this finely crafted veneer design, and it is no exaggeration to say that PRS has mastered the craftsmanship and technology of making the best pressed maple wood in the world, no matter when it comes to raw materials The choice, cutting or polishing. The shape of the PRS body, the carvings on the veneer, and the back-and-forth piping all demonstrate the excellent quality of PRS. Please be sure to bring this to the attention of consumers. Hang your PRS guitar near a light source and adjust it to the best lighting position, which is guaranteed to benefit you. (The effect of a single focusing point is better than that of scattered light)
The CE series is a typical shiny maple veneer, but it does not have a dazzling feeling. The highlight of the Custom series covers most parts of the entire veneer. The top 10 Custom guitars should definitely have full glitter veneers and no dead spots.
Due to years of accumulated experimental experience, PRS guitars provide you with more color choices.
The density and width of each piece of maple wood are completely different, so the guitar body will inevitably have flaws of one kind or another. You can turn this into an advantage when selling, telling your customers that every PRS guitar has a unique look and distinctive sound.
Ergonomics If you often use our guitar, it will be easy to find how well balanced it is. Just put your right hand gently and it will fall exactly into the most suitable playing position of the strings. . Maybe you haven't noticed that when you hang up the strap and look at your PRS from an angle of 35 to 40 degrees, all the control knobs are arranged in a straight line at equal distances. During Paul's 10-year guitar playing career, he continued to absorb experiences and lessons, and perfected his guitar production step by step. This is not a simple artistic work, but is done for those who love guitar playing so that they can perform at their best.
"No-border" design Nowadays, more and more high-end guitar products are beginning to use this design, and we at PRS are the initiators of this trend, using natural light-colored maple edges. Decorated with antique trim. Doing this will avoid the problem of the trim cracking over time. If you are interested, you can compare PRS guitars with products from other brands below. Our anti-crack quality can definitely withstand any test.
A thin layer of finish paint We try to paint the finish paint on the piano body as thinly as possible. I believe you also know the impact of heavy paint on the sound. We use a very thin layer of sandblasted paint on the bottom layer of the body and an acrylic polyurethane coating on the surface.
We believe that using acrylic polyurethane as the final paint is the closest to the old nitrocellulose paint in appearance and feel.
Many manufacturers will apply a thick layer of finish paint on the guitar body so that it will not be missed when polishing. Doing so will not only limit the natural vibration of the guitar body, but also weaken it at tangents. Our extremely thin layer of finish also creates PRS' famous "dipped in glass" appearance. In order to achieve such an effect, we train the workers in the workshop to very high standards, strictly control the amount of spray paint, be careful when polishing with sandpaper, and dare not neglect when polishing. Only in this way can we What creates the unique luster of our PRS.
Put our guitar in the brightest place in the shop, and you will see that the curves and tangents of the PRS body reflect impeccable and perfect luster.
