Illustration of how to DIY a pencil case

1. Cut the fabric as shown in the picture. The top and bottom sides are length, and the left and right sides are width. The surface fabric, lining fabric, and auxiliary cotton are each one piece. These three pieces of cloth are the same size. Here, the auxiliary cotton has been ironed on the surface fabric. The length can be the same as the zipper. The available length of this zipper, that is, the length of the teeth, is 25cm. Because the two ends will bend downward after it is done, the length of the zipper is slightly longer than the actual length of the pencil case. The width here is 17cm, which is a bit too wide, but the pencil case has a large capacity. The length of the two hemming strips can be a little longer because of the difficulty in sewing. The excess can be cut off after sewing. The width seems to be 3cm. It is too narrow and difficult to sew. I would rather have it wider. There is also a small piece of fabric for the hanging ears, 4x6cm, which actually doesn’t need to be that long. 2. Sew the hemming strip on the table fabric, and fold the hanging ears next to it. Fold the left and right sides of the hanging ear 1cm inward, then fold it in half and sew a seam on each side. 3. Install the zipper, that is, sew the zipper and the hemming strip. 4. Fold both sides of the table fabric inward, with the zipper in the middle, and sew both sides. All seam allowances are about 1cm. At this time, put the hanging ears in and sew them together. I forgot to install the mounting ears in the picture, but I did some work later. Remember that the zipper cannot be closed, otherwise the reverse side cannot be opened. What is exposed on the right side of the picture is the excess binding strip that has not been cut off. 5. Grasp the bottom. The length of the base of the triangle you grab is the height of the future pencil case. Usually 2-3cm is enough. 6. To sew the inner bag, first fold the long sides of the inner bag inward 1cm, then fold it in the middle, leaving a 1cm gap in the middle, which is where the zipper will be. Sew the two sides together and grab the bottom, making it the same height as the watch pocket. 7. Turn the inner bag over and put it on the outer bag, that is, the opposite sides of the two cloths face each other. Sew the two long sides of the inner bag to the zipper on the outer bag using a hidden stitch or loop stitch, and then turn it back to the front. Let’s put the pencil case that Zhang made for the first time. The usable length of the zipper on this one is 20cm. After it was sewn, it was found that the finished product could not hold the new pencil, so the function was changed from a pencil case to one of Xiaobai’s nests. The second time I made it, both the outer fabric and the lining fabric were chosen by Mao Zai. The quality of this watch cloth is very good. I checked the purchase record and it was said that it is a patented cloth from Japan's Minami Kumiko. Although it is thin, it is very dense. I originally bought it because there was a lamb in the pattern. The cover of the first pencil case was also bought because of the pattern of sheep. After all, this is the zodiac sign of the cat. The matching of Mao Zai is quite good. There is no color difference between the blue of the lining and the blue of the surface.
