Dow corning company was established, with Dr. Eugene C. Sullivan as the president and Dr. William as the president. Collins is the vice president and general manager.

1945

Dow Corning's factory in Midland, Michigan, USA began operations.

1946

The first consumer product produced by Dow Corning went on the market-eye saver glasses cleaner.

1948

Dow Corning has expanded its business to Canada and Europe.

1954

Dow Corning established a small processing plant in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA, and began to prepare silicone emulsion suitable for waterproof fabric treatment, and stored other commodities used in the textile industry. This is Dow Corning's first factory outside Midland.

1958

Dr Edwin Plueddemann, known as "Dr. Glue", developed the first commercial silicone adhesive. He claimed that organosilane coupling agent can make "everything stick together." He soon proved that what he said was correct.

1959

Dow Corning applies the technology of manufacturing high-purity polysilicon to the production of computer chip materials. The first fully integrated polysilicon plant was built and put into operation in Hemlock, Michigan, USA. Dr Earl Warwick was appointed as the department manager. 196 1 year

Dow Corning Company submitted its US patent application of 1 000. R&D is one of the keys to Dow Corning's success.

1964

Dow Corning realized the favorable integration of molybdenum disulfide and silicone resin by acquiring Alpha-Molykote, a special lubricant manufacturer located in Stanford, Connecticut, USA. Soon, Molykote became famous for its excellent lubrication performance in extreme working environment.

1966

In Japan, silicone is produced by a joint venture with Toray Silicone, and silicon is produced by a joint venture with Shinetsu Handotai.

1968

The first laboratory was built at Dow Corning's headquarters in Midland.

Dow Corning made history when astronaut neil armstrong set foot on the moon in boots with silicone rubber soles. Silicone sealants of Dow Corning, rubber (hose), potting compound and insulating material were used in Apollo 1 1 moon landing plan.
