What kind of awesome person is Microsoft's Principle SDET?
if you ask Microsoft testers about Principle SDET, someone may immediately point out that there is no such person in Microsoft. It can be seen that in Microsoft, Senior SDET is rare, let alone Principle SDET. So is there a Principle SDET in Microsoft? If they exist, what kind of people will they be? This is a big question in many people's minds, especially for test engineers who want to improve themselves on the road of technology (different from management). I am lucky enough to meet several such great people. Here I want to summarize them from their educational background, work experience and their suggestions for testers. Some people in it may have backgrounds far away from us, so I basically introduce them in the order of far and near. TV education: three undergraduate degrees: computer, mathematics and physics (isn't it awesome? ) Postgraduate: Master of Computer Before MS: The first company developed operating system, the second company worked as an applied scientist, and the third company developed satellite analysis tools. MS: In 21, she joined Microsoft to develop lead, innovated a high-speed remote file system, and obtained numerous patents on operating system and database, and then switched to Principal SDET. Suggestions: 1. Deep product and scenario knowledge (personal knowledge, customer interactions) 2. Strong analysis skills (RCA, debugger, Cause-effect) 3.3p's–persistence, passion, positive attitude 4. Leadership skills (vs management skills) 5. Fast learner and Willing to share that knowledge with others Summary: This one is awesome from both educational background and development background. His three degrees in computer, mathematics and physics show how outstanding his personal ability is, and his development experience before joining Microsoft is no joke, so entering Microsoft is team lead. The achievements in Microsoft are not comparable to those of ordinary people. What does this kind of person want to do? JM Education: Undergraduate Before MS: One-year development MS: In 1996, I joined Microsoft to do testing, and then lead, once worked as a test manager in the middle, and then returned to test lead. After working as lead/manager in five different team, I became a Test Architect. Finally, the Principle SDET suggests: 1. Dependent 2. Productive 3. Persistent ? "Relentless individual contributor"–a prev. mgr.4. Practical/Analytical 5. Maleable/ Adaptive summary: This person has rich experience in testing and management. He has worked in so many team in Microsoft, so it is not easy to work in so many positions. They have all worked as test managers, although there seems to be a gap with the one above, but it is a smooth chapter to be a Principle SDET, right? BK education: undergraduate double degree: computer and machinery Before MS: worked in three companies, including medical care, network equipment and so on. The specific work content is unknown. MS: I joined Microsoft for 9 years. I have been working on a team proposal: 1. Assures tests owned are highly reliable and stable 2. Possessions in-depth component/ feature knowledge 3.Possesses strong debugging skills (can narrow down issues) 4. Works Towards Continuous Self-improvement 5. Providers Critical Feedback During Spec/Design Reviews Summary: This guy has been working in a Microsoft team for 9 years, and he is really conscientious. Judging from my contact with him, he is also very good at things other than technology. I'll sort out his quotations and study them when I have time. LV education: computer undergraduate Before MS: Romanian computer research institute has worked for 13 years, and the specific work content is unknown. ms: joined Microsoft in 1997 for testing. In the meantime, three team suggestions were changed: 1. Possessions in-depth product knowledge and is big picture expert as well 2. Most of the timeworks in pro-active mode (anticipants rather). han reacts) 3.Able to generate support from others in order to achieve the desired outcome (impact and influence) 4. Understanding the business 5. Demonstrators Strong Leadership Skills If nothing else, he had been working in the research institute for 13 years before joining Microsoft, and he has been joining Microsoft for 11 years. Will 24 years of work experience be a Principle SDET? Excuse me, is there anyone in China who has been engaged in technology for so many years? Finally, take a good look at their suggestions. There are several points mentioned by several people in unison, which will be of great help to us.
