A good bird is valuable, but a good birdcage is not cheap. Therefore, we should not only pay attention to the protection of birds, but also pay attention to the maintenance of birdcages, so that they can be used for a longer time. Regular cleaning and polishing protection are both jobs that need attention.
For bamboo cages, you can thoroughly brush them with clean water and detergent (the hard brush is not easy to use). Finally, the whole cage can be poured with salt and boiled water, then washed with clear water and dried in a cool and ventilated place. Then apply a protective layer, which must meet the following conditions: non-toxic, tasteless, colorless and non-stick to dry oil. Last oiling, thoroughly dry, and then dry in a cool and ventilated place.
When the second layer of oil is quick-drying, it should be finely polished with high mesh metallographic sandpaper. After polishing, you can put it aside (preferably flat, not hanging) (in a room without sunlight) and then wipe it with a cloth every once in a while.
The new cage is used for maintenance purposes:
1. Ensure that the bamboo will not be deformed in the birdcage or cracked at the interface due to the constant external humidity and temperature.
2. Keep the birdcage surface smooth and free of mildew and black lines. After a period of time, the birdcage surface can produce reddish-brown luster.
3. Keep the toughness of bamboo, and ensure that the birdcage is strong and durable.
4. Prevent insects from eating. Maintenance agent: silicone oil, homemade wax (mainly composed of palm wax, beeswax, wood wax, etc.). )
Silicone oil has excellent high and low temperature resistance, low freezing point, low viscosity-temperature coefficient, high compression ratio, low surface tension, good moisture resistance and chemical stability. Due to the above characteristics of silicone oil, maintaining bamboo ware with silicone oil can effectively lock and replace part of water, and effectively prevent bamboo ware from deformation, explosion, bamboo toughness decline and easy folding caused by excessive water loss or temperature change. Moreover, silicone oil is a kind of liquid, which can produce good capillary effect when it comes into contact with the pores on the surface of bamboo, so that it can quickly penetrate into the interior of bamboo and maintain bamboo utensils from the inside.
Self-made wax (palm wax, beeswax, wood wax): the main components are wax ester, free fatty acid, fatty acid glyceride, free fatty alcohol and hydrocarbon. It has adhesion, friction, lubricity, film forming, water resistance, moisture resistance and oxidation resistance. It is mainly applied to the surface of bamboo utensils, and has the functions of polishing the surface of the utensils, being waterproof, moisture-proof, mildew-proof and crack-proof.
Generally, wax can be used to maintain wooden furniture, and Bellevue is not recommended, because Bellevue is convenient and easy to use as a fast-food maintenance tool. Its main component is silicone oil. Strictly speaking, it can only be regarded as "oil injection", not wax spraying. So the maintenance effect is far less than that of solid wax. General furniture maintenance wax can be used to maintain cages. If you can't find wax for furniture maintenance, use floor wax instead.
