Ford patent

Ford Motor Company has applied for a patent in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, which provides windshield and roof design.

They used this windshield on the body of a Ford Mustang, which can extend above the head of the front passenger and become a part of the roof.

Most of the contents of this patent are about how to maintain the necessary rigidity of this design.

Ford's solution is to use a pair of X-shaped roof reinforcements, which are located in the middle of the roof and connect the front windshield and the rear window. In theory, this design can make the car very strong in the event of a collision, but it is not known whether Ford has tested or just registered this solution.

Nevertheless, the windshield design described in this patent is very attractive, even if it looks a little inappropriate in Ford Wild Horse. Maybe this design is more suitable for SUVs or crossovers, but what if you want to use this glass on wild horses? For a five-door car like Mach-E instead of a two-door car like Mustang, the central part between the windshield and the rear window needs to be larger, or the windshield itself can be made very large.

This patent was first submitted on May 4, 20 18, and was released about a month ago. Obviously, Ford has been studying this for some time, but it is not clear whether this roof can be mass-produced.
