Tesla Battery Day preview, new patent has new ways to deal with spontaneous combustion of electric vehicles!

At present, the most common cause of spontaneous combustion in electric vehicles is thermal runaway. The lithium-ion battery generates too much heat, and the hot gas discharged triggers surrounding combustion.

A new U.S. Trademark and Patent Office patent (U.S. Patent No. 10763477) obtained by Tesla shows that Tesla hopes to mitigate thermal runaway by connecting a metal-air battery pack to the main battery pack, thereby preventing The occurrence of spontaneous combustion.

Tesla’s patent outlines that the two battery packs will be connected by pipes and valves. If thermal runaway begins, a valve opens, allowing hot gases to flow through the metal-air battery pack, cooling the gases before they escape outside the car.

We have reason to believe that at the upcoming Tesla Battery Day on September 22, Tesla will announce such a patent and even reveal the latest breakthrough progress in metal-air batteries. After all, it only makes sense to add such a practical metal-air battery pack to the battery packs currently in use. For more news about Tesla batteries, please stay tuned for follow-up reports.
