As early as the 1970s, the drug minoxidil (orally taken) to treat high blood pressure was already in clinical use, and doctors found that it could make patients grow hair again. Then in 1986, the world's first minoxidil solution to treat hair loss was launched in the United States. Two years later, the US FDA approved minoxidil products for marketing. Since then, minoxidil has been widely used in clinical practice around the world.
As the only external drug approved by the FDA to effectively treat hair loss, minoxidil was immediately "targeted" by Chinese pharmaceutical companies represented by Zhendong Pharmaceuticals after its patent protection expired in 2006. Zhendong Pharmaceutical also reached a strategic cooperation with HeyBro, a new national brand for hard-core men, in 2019. The latter launched HeyBro minoxidil liniment (5% concentration) in early 2020. In March 2020, this liniment was also approved by the State Food and Drug Administration and is a national drug approved (OTC for external use).
Minoxidil is an over-the-counter medicine that treats hair loss by promoting the expansion of blood vessels in the scalp to promote hair growth. Minoxidil needs to be applied twice a day, 1ml each time (about 6 sprays). It will take about half a year to notice the improvement. I have been using it for about 4 months, and my hairline has grown back a little, and there are still a lot of small fuzz growing.
