The heating and cooling of electric vehicles are very different from those of traditional vehicles. Traditional vehicle heating uses engine preheating to keep warm, so the engine temperature must reach a certain level before heating, and compressor is used for refrigeration. However, the heating and cooling systems of pure electric vehicles are separated. Many people should have found that electric vehicle cooling does not consume electricity, but heating consumes more electricity in winter.
In terms of refrigeration, the refrigeration principle of pure electric vehicles and fuel vehicles is the same, and the refrigeration principle of household air conditioners is the same. The difference is that the driving energy of the two cars is different. The fuel vehicle is driven by the engine and works with the compressor to realize refrigeration, while the pure electric vehicle is powered by the battery. A single motor drives the compressor to work, which is similar to the driving of household air conditioners. Therefore, when the electric car is parked, air conditioning can be blown inside, without any potential safety hazard and power consumption.
In terms of heating, fuel vehicles use engine waste heat for heating, and pure electric vehicles use our winter electric heater mode, most of which are PTC heating and heat pump heating, which consumes a lot of electricity. Different brands of electric vehicles use different modes, but they all consume the same electricity as we do at home in winter. In winter, because of the cold weather, the battery life of pure electric vehicles has been attenuated a lot after the cold weather, so many electric vehicle owners are afraid to turn on the air conditioner for heating in winter.
In short, the air conditioning of electric vehicles is limited by the total battery capacity and endurance, and they often dare not drive as boldly as fuel vehicles unless they are driving in urban areas. If driving at high speed, the battery life of electric vehicles will decrease faster, so the use of air conditioners will be more cautious.
Electric vehicle refrigeration is relatively simple, and the refrigeration principle is the same as that of fuel vehicle. The only difference is that the compressor is different. The compressor of the fuel vehicle is driven by the engine, while the electric vehicle has no engine, and the compressor can only be driven by electricity, so the electric vehicle directly adopts the electric compressor.
