Floating airbag patent

There is no doubt that airbag is one of the best inventions in the automobile market. Although the number of airbags in new cars has been increasing, many companies have been looking for new ways to make them more effective. Waymo, a Google brother company belonging to Alphabet, recently applied for a patent: an airbag that can save lives in the event of a violent collision between vehicles.

This patent is called deployable? Passengers? Fence, which describes a technology that will protect passengers from all angles when there is a collision.

Theoretically, although the airbag installed in the car can help protect passengers, what does this shell do? "Hug?" Passengers, make sure that the passengers are not injured.

"In some embodiments, the system can also be installed on the second seat of the vehicle," the patent wrote.

"The second part of the airbag system can be incorporated into the second row of seats. The second row of seats may face the seats in the vehicle. The second part and the first part may be configured to form a partial fence around the seat when the airbag system has been deployed, so as to reduce the possibility of injuring the passenger when the passenger is in the seat. " Waymo explained in the patent document.

The drawings contained in the column name, which you can view in the photo gallery here, provide a close-up view of how airbags should work and explain how to form fences in the event of a collision.

The system is still in the patent stage, which means that Waymo's idea has not yet reached the mass production stage. According to the official records of the US Patent and Trademark Office, the patent application was granted in June 20 18 and in February this year.
