Lanzhou University of Technology is located in Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province, an important town of the ancient Silk Road. The school, formerly known as Gansu Technical School, was founded in 19 1958. On the basis of establishing Lanzhou Institute of Technology, it merged with Gansu Jiaotong University, and in June of the same year 10+0 was officially named Gansu University of Technology. 1965 the school was placed under the first Ministry of Machinery Industry, and the majors of hydraulic machinery, chemical machinery, oil mining machinery, welding technology and equipment of Northeast Heavy Machinery Institute and Beijing Institute of Machinery all moved in, and a group of teachers were transferred from Hunan University and Hefei University of Technology to work in the school. 1998 was transformed into a public institution jointly built by the central and local governments and mainly managed by local governments. In 2003, it was renamed Lanzhou University of Technology. After nearly 90 years of construction and development, the school has become a science and engineering university with relatively strong engineering strength, constantly improving science level and certain liberal arts characteristics. Having a complete multi-level and multi-type talent training system, including doctors, masters and bachelors, plays an important supporting role in the social and economic development of northwest China.

The school is the first batch of universities authorized for bachelor's and master's degrees in China and the first university authorized for doctor's degree in engineering in Gansu Province. The school insists on taking talent training as the center, taking senior professionals with "solid basic theory, wide professional caliber, strong engineering ability and high comprehensive quality" as the training goal, constantly deepening education and teaching reform, innovating talent training mode, constructing teaching guarantee system, attaching importance to engineering ability training, actively carrying out teaching research, and constantly improving the quality of talent training. In the past three years, the school has won two national teaching achievement awards, 25 provincial and ministerial teaching achievement awards, undertaken four national "Eleventh Five-Year" teaching and research projects, built five provincial-level excellent courses 15, and published 24 textbooks 124. Students won 30 national prizes in the national college students' mathematical modeling competition, electronic design competition, computer programming competition, English competition, mechanical design competition and robot design competition. The initial employment rate of graduates has remained above 95% for many years, ranking first in Gansu universities. Since its establishment, it has trained more than 20,000 high-level talents 1 .2000 for the country, three national teaching demonstration centers1and three provincial engineering talent training bases. The school has strong scientific and technological strength.
