The original BDI and BPEC were respectively the first batch of oil refining and chemical design institutes established in 1953 New China. In terms of oil refining, in 1950s, despite the technical blockade of China by foreign anti-China forces, BDI overcame difficulties and made self-reliance, and was responsible for designing the reconstruction and expansion projects of a number of old oil refineries such as Dalian, Jinxi, Gao Qiao, Jinzhou, Fushun and Lanzhou. In the early 1960s, faced with the grim situation that foreign countries blocked China's petroleum products, it undertook the design task of the anniversary refinery in an all-round way and participated in the historic battle of the anniversary oilfield. Complete the design projects of Jinxi No.5 Petroleum Plant and Nanjing Refinery. Since then, BDI has focused on the world's advanced level, seriously absorbed foreign advanced technology, and worked with relevant departments to tackle key scientific and technological problems and design, and built world-class modern refining units such as fluid catalytic cracking, platinum reforming, delayed coking, urea dewaxing, new catalysts and additives, etc., and supported, finalized and built several refineries with an annual processing capacity of more than 2.5 million tons of crude oil, in order to realize the productization of China petroleum ahead of schedule. During the ten years from the mid-1960s to the early 1980s, BDI experienced great difficulties and struggled in the turmoil. It has never stopped engineering design and technical research. It has successively completed the design of large refineries such as Dongfanghong Refinery, Shengli Refinery, Jingmen Refinery and Wuhan Petrochemical Plant, and completed the engineering design of North Korean Fiberhome Refinery and Albanian Refinery aided by China. In cooperation with relevant units, modern refining units such as polymetallic reforming and molecular sieve riser catalytic cracking have been developed. In the chemical industry and petroleum and petrochemical industry, in 1950s, BPEC made strenuous efforts, and carried out important work such as new plant design and old plant reconstruction and expansion for the recovery of new China national economy. Completed the engineering design and construction of synthetic ammonia production in Dalian Chemical Plant, the restoration and expansion of Yonglining Plant and Sichuan Chemical Plant, and the first large-scale nitrogen fertilizer plant with coke as raw material in China. In basic chemical industry, the design of pure alkali projects in Dalian, Tanggu, Li Yong and Hongzhen, Sichuan was completed. The chlor-alkali and sulfuric acid projects in Zhuzhou, Quzhou, Jilin, Fuzhou, Guangzhou and Beihua were designed. In the organic chemical industry, the engineering design of dyes, pesticides, caprolactam, neoprene and acetic acid with calcium carbide and acetylene as raw materials was started. In participating in the construction of "three major chemical bases" in Jilin in Northeast China, Taiyuan in North China and Lanzhou in Northwest China, BPEC has invested a lot of technical strength, from translating all design documents and drawings to cooperating with foreign experts on site, and has successively undertaken 10 1, 20 1, 304, 102, and 20. In terms of PVC technology, four new processes, technologies and equipment have been developed and designed in cooperation with relevant research institutes. In aiding Afghanistan and Vietnam, it has also made outstanding contributions to Egypt, Afghanistan and Myanmar. In the 1970s, BPEC undertook the design tasks of Yanshan Petrochemical Company, the first super-large petrochemical joint venture in China, from planning, overall design, technology introduction negotiation to participation in construction, and participated in the design of the first plant with an annual output of 300,000 tons of ethylene, polypropylene, polyester, styrene and polystyrene in China.

In order to vigorously promote technological progress, we have cooperated with our brother units to develop a series of scientific and technological achievements, such as energy-saving technology of atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit, catalytic cracking of Daqing atmospheric residue, premixed riser of catalytic cracking, high-efficiency regeneration technology of external circulation tube coke burning tank, MTBE synthesis series new technology, flue gas turbine series technology, electro-hydraulic control slide valve and so on. In 1990s, BDI actively promoted two fundamental changes, paid close attention to eliminating "bottlenecks" and increased the technical content of design work. Among them, the reconstruction and expansion project of Fujian Refining and Chemical Company has become a model project to eliminate bottlenecks and won the "National Best Engineering Design Special Award". 1996 passed the ISO 900 1 quality system certification, and 1997 obtained the British Crown UKAS certificate. Since 1993, BDI has successively undertaken the general contracting tasks of GAC aromatics extraction unit, Tianjin1100,000 tons/year delayed coking unit, 400,000 tons/year gasoline and diesel hydrogenation unit and polyester aromatics combined unit, and realized the three major controls of schedule, cost and quality. Through cooperation with brother companies and independent development, the company has completed the "Ten Dragons" key projects of the head office, such as catalytic cracking technology, 6,543.8+100,000 tons/year medium-pressure hydrogenation upgrading technology, and moving bed catalytic reforming technology, so that most of the refining technologies have been localized. From 1980s to 1990s, all employees of BPEC, Qi Xin, made concerted efforts to innovate and practice, and became a petrochemical engineering company that had begun to take shape and was in line with international standards. 1984, BPEC became one of the pilot units of 12 general contracting approved by the state, and began to set up an engineering company with design as the main body and general contracting. From then on, they further strengthened internal management and project management, vigorously promoted the general contracting system of engineering construction, and undertook the general contracting task of "Double Benzene Project" of Yanhua Company, and achieved success. Has undertaken a number of general contracting tasks such as phthalic anhydride, plasticizer and unsaturated resin in Jinling Petrochemical Company. At the same time, BPEC established the first Grade A supervision company of China Petrochemical Company, and successively undertook the supervision tasks of large-scale construction projects such as Guangdong Huiyang Panda Automobile Company, Hubei Shenlong Automobile Company, Guangdong Xianglian Food Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Ethylene Project, and constantly explored and accumulated experience in project construction management. In the 1990s, BPEC undertook the first 300,000-ton ethylene transformation project in China-Yanshan ethylene was transformed from 300,000 tons to 450,000 tons, Qilu from 300,000 tons to 450,000 tons, and Daqing from 300,000 tons to 480,000 tons, and completed the overall design of Maoming 300,000-ton ethylene project and the design of six ethylene plants.
