What is a "seed coating agent"

Seed coating agent is a seed treatment agent widely used in the world to control plant soil-borne diseases and insect pests and regulate plant production. Traditional seed coating agents are all composed of chemical pesticides and addition film materials, which are easy to cause environmental pollution and pesticide residues after use. Compared with chemical seed coating agent, biological seed coating agent has the following differences:

1) Active ingredients are bioactive ingredients, which may include antibiotics, biological pesticides or beneficial microorganisms.

2) The film-forming substance is an environmentally degradable substance, which can be completely degraded into non-toxic substances in about 30 days.

3) The cost is low, and the cost of treating seeds with biological seed coating agent is only 30% of that of chemical seed coating agent.

4) More functions. Biological seed coating agent can inoculate seeds with beneficial soil microorganisms, such as leguminous rhizobia or symbiotic nitrogen-fixing bacteria, and improve the nodulation rate and nitrogen-fixing efficiency of leguminous plants, thereby reducing the amount of chemical fertilizer, increasing the yield of leguminous crops and reducing pesticide residues in food crops. This technology has been declared as a national invention patent.
